    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Well, time to go back to work. I was off longer than normal this time due to health reasons, but the doctors gave me the green light so off I go. She got a final bath this morning and I took a nice little fun drive afterwards, There won’t be any posts until I get home again down the road, but...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

There seem to be a lot of people who find the need to get right on my ass here lately, especially at stoplights. Given that, I decided to install the rear cam that came with my dash cam. On my car it ended up being not as bad of a job as I thought it would. First off I installed the camera on...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

I never used to feel like I needed one, but with how many poor drivers I see of late (especially when I'm in the Miata) I think it's a good idea to have it.

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

A couple of days ago I decided to hard wire my dash cam. I pulled apart the lighter plug to get to the wiring. Apparently when I did so my ability to add 2+2 went out the window, because there was a small circuit board nestled within. Didn’t make an impact on me, I proceeded to make up the...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Yes. I posted it in here quite a while ago. I ended up using a piece of PVC pipe with a slice in it to sit on top of the roll bar, that raises the rear of the top so it's more level. Not 100% but it works.

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Yeah, all the cool race cars have some form of them. I have been noticing on modern cars that a lot of them have the bumper going out far enough to act as an air guide around the front wheels. I mentioned about possibly replacing the parking brake cables because of not being able to...

Took a couple more shots today facing the opposite direction, highlights the spats from the front better:

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Got started this morning. First job was to transfer the location of inserts for the mounting screws. I decided a while back to try using a form of centering screw for this. I bought some M3 set screws that came to a point for this. Tried 12mm long ones but they were too long, so I went with 3mm...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Had some medical appointments that occupied my time this morning. When I got home I shot the spats with four coats of clear. I think they came out decent. After that, I had one more task to accomplish. When I cut off the bottom of the spats I lost two of the threaded inserts (per side) that...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Replaced the spark plugs for the second time since new. FYI, this may have already been posted here but NGK ILKAR7L11 are the same plugs as the factory ones. I checked with the local dealer and they were asking $46 per for the Mazda labeled ones. I got NGK labeled ones from Rock Auto for less...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Bondo was a success, although I still had to go over the area a couple of times to get it where it needed to be. Here’s the final result next to the other one: After that I put five coats of primer on both, like so: I actually looked them over closely after the second coat and found some...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Got her out today for some testing and auto tuning. I made some changes to my VE table beforehand reducing the numbers in the higher range. It was successful in that I’m not getting as much gas smell in the higher boost areas like before. I couldn’t really romp on it because of doing the tuning...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Today was a nice day so I decided it was Miata work day. Got her situated and up in the air. First thing was to adjust the rear brakes, along with the parking brake handle. I’m about out of adjustment on the handle so I may have to look into getting new cables. I’m sure they are pretty stretched...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Had a small issue with the driver’s side spat. It was the first one I cut down, and it ended up missing the point on the front that the other one has. I want them to be the same side to side so have been trying to correct that. It’s been driving me nuts. I’ve tried several different methods to...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

I’ve done some prep work on the spats, nothing to really see until I get some paint on them. Today I finally painted and installed low profile head bolts in the two front fender holes in way of the hood lifts. I had to remove the factory hex head bolts because of interference with the body of...
