Locksmith price to cut and program chip?

If you can tackle a simple DIY, you can also get a $12 immobilizer bypass and leave the original key (or just chip), google/Youtube. You can then freely make key copies. The car itself is theft proof ;)

    Mazda5 Performance mod options?

Performance vs Luxury, everything is a trade-off. Adding sound deaden is a good luxury addon but it goes counter to performance; like adding massive subwoofers. Honestly, a good pair of tires should be the starting point. Same with tires, you can not have it all. Light weight wheels and a...

    Mazda5 Performance mod options?

DIY turbo setup? The limited options for this car, I think it would be the best option if you have some knowledge to do it. MS3 mani (K03) bolts on and you can use an adapter or cut/weld a more common T2 flange to open up options and keep price down but figuring out the A/R ratio you want is...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Cool. I think you'll be the first Mz5 on KSports. How did you deicde to go with KSports instead of, say BC Racing? Hope you start a thead with more pics and measured specs for future reference. FYI, need to cut open/widen the shock tower opening to reach the camber adjustment plate...

Mazda3 Rough idle when brake pedal is pressed

+1 unlikely brake booster but anything is possible. Test brake booster by turning car off and pumping the brake pedal rapidly 4-5 times. The pedal will sink and stay down if there is no leak. Turn on car, pedals come back up, listen down there for any hissing (air leak). While idling in Park...

Best way to clean fabric seats?

Sell/trade the Sport/Touring for a Grand Touring. Or bring it in to a detail shop once in a while and let them do it. Commercial grade cleaners and equipment and working experience will do a better job. Scotchgard the heck out it as soon as you can.

No error codes, no spark. Help!

assuming the battery is in good health, check fusible link. (pic is CX 5 but the design/application is the same for Mazda, trace the 'wires' from the fuse -down) https://www.mcx5.org/images/books/1116/ac5uun00001081.gif

    Mazda5 Performance mod options?

There aren't many performance mods that net a worth while hp gain, however, you can tackle it from a power to weight ratio. Your best bet is to lose weight (you and car) . Another place to look it reducing unsprung weight; look for used NC Miata rims (lightweight and come with TPMS sensor)...

Upgrading from Mazda5 - Which car?

If money is tight, used Dodge Journey and Kia Rondo are similar size, cheap 3row cars. Pacifica PHEV + AWD is a nice combo on paper, just need a leveling kit for more ground clearance. I would think a lot of these vehicles offer much nicer capacity but are pretty large. If these sizes are...

    '08-'10 Mazda5 exhaust pipe diameter

It is 1 3/4" diameter (dial caliper), technically 1.769" due to some rust.

Upgrading from Mazda5 - Which car?

Mitsubishi Outlander -tight 3rd row but 2nd row slides for car seat Jenga. Psst, it's a Nissan Rogue :/. Wait for PHEV or (fingers cross, Nissans' 1.5T) VW Tiguan -3rd row only with FWD (not sure what the hell VW is thinking). Kia Sorento Hybrid -decently sized 3rd row, comparable to Highlander...

I'm going to shorten my ATF change interval

Damn, that made me (and my 2008) feel old :( but I take solace in knowing that the older you get the more you realize a car is nothing but a money sucking piece of depreciating asset... Change the ATF. Frequency is not really the issue, rather keeping it clean and cool. The trans cooler uses...

    '08-'10 Mazda5 exhaust pipe diameter

Anyone know exactly what the O.D. of the stock exhaust piping? Google can't seem to find a straight answer but it seems to be 1 7/8" or 1 3/4"? Pipe to flange weld rusted off and the gasket crumbles apart. I suspect there may be other leaks down there. Need to know diameter then decide if I'm...

    Spongy brakes, bleeding doesn't work (2013 Mazda5)

Call your local Mazda dealer’s service department and ask if they can perform an ABS flush. Make sure to confirm it is an ABS flush (regular brake fluid flush does not activate/cycle the HCU’s valves). If yes, have the dealer do it and be done with it. However, before performing the ABS flush...

Whining Sound After Turning Off Engine

I think every Mz5 owner, who looks under the hood, had this question at some point. It’s normal. https://mazdas247.com/forum/t/buzzing-noise.123846837/

Mazda5 ECU / Engine swap / Tuning options?

What is your goal and how money do you plan to spend to achieve this goal? https://mazdas247.com/forum/t/remaining-punchlist-for-turbo.123841357/ Do you intend to boost the auto (need $tronger torque convert to support boost surge and may need tuner to remap the TCM shift points, both added...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Great idea! Did you buy the 1M (39") length? The dim trunk has always irked me and this is such a cheap and clever solution!

    Spongy brakes, bleeding doesn't work (2013 Mazda5)

I should clarify racking up mileage alone is not the problem as hwy miles have no impact on brakes generating excessive heat, which degrades fluid. The main culprit is the nature of Dot 3 brake fluid, which is hygroscopic (pulls moisture from air) and degrades over time; the added heat transfer...

    Spongy brakes, bleeding doesn't work (2013 Mazda5)

Watch the video in post #3, it will explain everything. A common theme I’m seeing is that this occurs to folks who’ve never change or bleed their brakes (old fluid, made worst if overheated due to aggressive driving/stuck caliper that generate too much heat on old fluid). @turbonium959 -...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Yup. Both Motorcraft and Mazda oil filters (for MZR engine) are made by Purlator; same part with diff label/price. Thanks to platform sharing, a lot of identical parts (different catalog part number, dealer can cross check) are shared and the Ford labeled parts are always cheaper.
