    Mazda5 Replacement Axles?

Agree on Timken and NTN for bearings. I don't believe either offer axle seals, which only leaves SKF as the top pick of the aftermarket bunch (there might be better options I didn't come across). I've never used Febest parts but based on BITOG user experiences/reviews, they are not good.

    Mazda5 Replacement Axles?

I can't tell but my car is old and not a good benchmark. If you can afford downtime and can DIY or know a reputable rebuilder, I recommend having OEM axles rebuilt. If/When another +12 owner replaces their own axles, offer to pay them to ship old stock your way and you can take your time (or...

    Occasional clunk on hard braking/acceleration (2012 Mazda5)

"clunk" sounds different to everyone. -What was the most recent service/change before the clunking started? -Does it clunk randomly or only during a certain event, such as while braking or braking while turning/etc.? -Any lose plastic panels under the car? Hard abs plastic knockings on metal...

    Mazda5 Replacement Axles?

I replaced the driver side with a Trackmotive (do not come with dampers). Fine so far but not long enough to make a statement on durability. I get the sense you like to keep your car in tip top shape, go OEM. They pop up on eBay for fair price. For anyone considering DIY, do yourself a favor...

My New 2013 Mazda5 GT - Stereo Upgrade Time

Can you share a source that confirms this? Assuming they are a monopoly, does their financial report reflect this (pretty darn low from what I can google)? Promo vid: they claim to be “one of” the leading manufacturers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvNcLMsW6aM https://www.szklyde.com/faqs/...

My New 2013 Mazda5 GT - Stereo Upgrade Time

Thanks and yes, post a few pics if you don't mind. Your camera uses a Sony lens and judging by the curve of the far-away lines in the pic, there's definitely a more pronounce fisheye view even though advertise as 160* ($40), than my as advertised 170* (but $8), which has more of a straight...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

100% on the waiting on the couch! As a shade tree DIYer, even with goggles, rust and crud falling on your face/hair/body while lying on your back with limited movement -sucks. But you just gave me a bad idea (in a good way)! I also don't have a welder (metal is hard to work with, wood is so...

My New 2013 Mazda5 GT - Stereo Upgrade Time

Do you know how many degrees is your wide-angel lens? Can you post a pic of what it looks like? I have a hard time finding a good and cheap one and really want to upgrade mine (170*) for wider fisheye view. Haven't hear of Teyes but they do seem to pack a lot of hardware but their prices...

My New 2013 Mazda5 GT - Stereo Upgrade Time

Original = the previous own may have installed it? Original = Factory Mazda? (I'm not sure I fully understand your question) IF you buy any unit specifically "for your car", it should come with the bezel (frame) and wiring kit which includes the harness (female) that connects directly into the...

My New 2013 Mazda5 GT - Stereo Upgrade Time

Fix it for ya and 100% agree b/c this applies to all material things. *When* MFG moves to Vietnam/India/Africa, cheap is still cheap 😅. Considering this is a discussion about Android radios, this forum can only confirm 'how well' it fits, 'what it looks' like post-install, and confirm what is...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Thanks! I need to fix/replace this section as well, and patch a leak in the piping that runs to the exhaust. The hanger attached to the short piece is soo rotted, I can bend it easily. Do you know/ask the shop what type of material their pipes are made of? This is my biggest concern that...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Good timing. Curios, how much piping did you end up getting fab, what type of pipe material was used, and how much did it cost all together? I had a split in one of my flanges and have been using a coupling with two clamps. Recently I got under and confirm there are at least 2 leaks in the...

My Climate control bulbs are out...Any recommendations?

(link to ebay pic) The HVAC controls use 2 types of "T"wist out incandescent bulbs with green silicon cover. IIRC, the bottom 2 bigger holes use replacement #74 bulbs (T5?) that can be taken out with long/narrow needle nose plyers, and the top 3 smaller holes (for the dials) are neo wedge...

2009 Mazda5 Apple CarPlay Infotainment Update

Looks nice! I've been debatting one of these for a long while. These are common 9" Android headunits that come in a few different size/shape and MANY different specs. The kit just includes the bezel, which you can google "Mazda 5 android frame" to make your own setup. With all things tech...

Shopping for a used Mazda5, advice please

Like all used car, buy the newest model year with the cleanest history (ideal if verified single owner and NO history of title transfer across states) at the best price you can afford... Don't settle for Sport or Touring trim; save up/look for the GT (had Sport, current GT). If you are hands...

    Weird no-start after stall (DSC light?) 2012 Mazda5 6MT

During the “many attempts”, did the starter crank at all?? If it just randomly started, then I think you may have experienced an electrical gremlin. DSC controls TB and ABS, neither should impede starting in normal case. TB should never be 100% closed, unless TB is completely gummed up AND...
