They say the reason not to apply used oil to the gasket is because the grit in the oil could cause it to stick, whereas clean oil should allow it to release.
It might also depend on how tight you apply the filter and how often the filter is changed. I've never had a gasket stick but I can see...
I wonder if there are places that could service it, maybe clean dust out of sensors, a little lube on the rails. I had a belt replaced in a CD player and it was only $25.
I think it's possible that if you have excessive blow-by you can have that happen.
Have you noticed when you are using the oil? Does it smoke at particular times? What kind of oil have you been using?
I guess often oil consumption results from leaky valve stem seals or the oil rings.
I wonder if the Mazda5 hatch was lighter or better balanced or did the hydraulic assist cylinders work better on that vehicle?
Those things wear out and then they don't have as much lift. Replacing the cylinders should be less expensive than a motorized hatch, so it might be something to consider.
I ordered the belts to have on hand but the OEM belts on my first Mazda lasted a really long time.
I didn't order a tensioner because there are so many versions now I wonder if the newest would be the best. My current tensioner seems a little greasy, but no dripping. I think the main function...
I was thinking it might be a good idea to take a look at some schematics to see where some grounds could be added for the modules, etc.
I don't have an auto transmission but there are other things that could probably use some upgrades.
Maybe the caliper was stuck and when you tapped the pedal it released. If a thorough service of the caliper pins doesn't fix it maybe you need new calipers?
If you take it to the dealer they might tell you it's too soon, as the schedule in your manual might recommend 7.5k miles or 12 months for the oil change. But a person could change it anyway. Maybe change the oil but keep the OEM filter.
The belts last a long time, but if the car had a 'major tuneup' at 75k they might have changed them.
If I were concerned and planning a long trip I'd possibly pick up some belts at a dealer and take them along, as having the right parts would be a big help if you had a failure.

I got a vacuum pump and set of gauges from anazon for less than $200. I also bought some of the special sealant and a digital torque wrench and some other necessities. Watch all the youtubes you can, etc., you can learn a lot.
