Gen 3 CX-5: Owners Chime In

Could be a difference in the seat bottom height, or even the seat bottom itself. If the Gen3 seat compresses more than the Gen2 seat, that could account for the feeling of more headroom. Maybe the Gen3 has the driver's seat a little bit further away from the windshield, too?

A reminder to run Top Tier fuel and avoid cheap gas

A minimum detergency fuel is a fuel that meets only minimum government standards. I think that's what they're referring to, which I assume are fuels from places like Esso, 7-11, Circle-K, or other smaller stations. I found this CR article that shows the difference in intake valve build up...

    2017~2025 Sluggish performance CX-5 2.5L

Do you have a different Mazda dealer that you can take your car to? If not, I would escalate the issue to the Service Manager, and if they are no help, contact Mazda Corporate for your region to escalate the issue further. It sounds like your current dealer is either very lazy or very...

    2026 Mazda CX-5: Who’s actually getting one?

Yes, it is. This reminder was posted on the first page. Once again, this thread is to discuss the 2026/Gen 3 CX-5. It is not to discuss the Gen 1 or Gen 2 CX-5, or talk about why you're not buying a Gen 3. We have plenty of discussion threads that already exist for those topics. Let's keep...

    Obsessive compulsive car care habits

I do this too. I never used to, but my wife has a habit of driving her Civic into a steep driveway, putting the car in Park and then taking her foot off the break just as it goes into Park. A couple of times I'd take her car, and it took more effort to pull the shifter out of Park, and when I...

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

So when I had the rear diff failure on my 2018, I attributed it to a manufacturer's defect/error. I can't prove it, but it is possible that the fluid level in the rear diff was "low" as many report that they had to fill more than they drained out. When I did drain the fluid, it was after the...

    Obsessive compulsive car care habits

Owning a black car has amplified my tendencies a bit lol. For example, let's say I wash the car the night before. The next morning at work, it rains. I find myself tempted to go out to the car at lunch and wipe the car down to prevent water spots lol. Or a few days after washing the car, there's...

The down-tilting mirrors are a nice touch, didn't know they had added them to the CX-5.

Need help, metal flakes in oil and oil burning

I would get a magnetic drain plug and install it ASAP. Then ride out this current oil to maybe 4k miles as @Lazy2.5 suggested. Re-evaluate on your next oil change.

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

I washed it yesterday, then filled up on fuel this morning (ouch). I'm pretty sure this is the most I've ever paid to fill a fuel tank ($130 CAD for 59.4L of Shell 93). I'm glad I never went for the 2015 4Runner I was initially wanting to buy before I test drove the CX-9 in 2016.

Custom CMU MZD2 Configuration is now possible!

That ability to allow the CMU to use Wireless AA/ACP is huge. To invest in something like this, though, I'd need to know what cars/infotainment systems can be customized with your solution, as well as a list of popular customization options for each car model. And a video showing the functioning...
