If you haven't replaced the oil in the transfer case, you have a FWD car now.
There are people with Ford Edges (which has basically the same engine) that have gone 200k+ miles. I don't know how common it is but it is not unheard of.
I'd check what the trade in value is and see if the repair...
Yeah, these chains should be a lifetime part. I've not seen any problems with the chains or guides. I had it last on the list because it could be contributing but is not really likely.
Unfortunately, there are a few examples of the cam/crank timing error occurring right before an engine failure caused by a failing water pump on this forum. You can also find examples of this if you search Ford Edge forums (the V6 engine in the CX-9 was a Ford design). Personally, I would stop...
That code can be caused by a few things:
1. The variable valve timing (VVT) actuators can sometimes go bad. When one starts to go bad, the timing between the camshaft with the bad VVT actuator and crankshaft can get out of whack, which is the code you are seeing.
2. The water pump is going...
They already tried this with the Amati brand in 1988. They changed their minds in 1992 and cancelled the brand before ever selling anything. We got the Millenia which was supposed to be the mid-level Amati. The rest of the details are pretty scarce as Mazda doesn't really acknowledge any of...
It is not selling as well as Mazda had hoped - there was an article in Automotive News that alluded to Mazda targeting 90,000 CX-90 sales and and additional 30,000 CX-70 sales (article archived here to avoid paywall: https://archive.is/etYVc). In comparison, Honda sells around 100,000 Pilots in...
I'm guessing that the redesigned CX-9's sales performance, coupled with the slow start of the CX-90's sales gave someone in Mazda corporate cold feet.
The CX-9 never sold all that well. When the second generation was released, I read an article where Dave Coleman was quoted as saying they had...
I am well aware of the definition. This engine does not have the same effective compression ratio - it is reducing it by delaying the intake valve closure. So, despite bragging about having 12:1 (mechanical) compression in the paragraph before, it's not really achieving this level when...
That reads like an Advertorial bought by Mazda:
1. Somewhat interesting fact about engine.
2. GUESS WHAT ELSE HAS AN INLINE 6? BMW. MERCEDES.
3. Repeat ad nauseum.
On the other hand, I'm glad Mazda's marketing department appears to be actually doing something for a change. I just wish they...
In all honesty I can't remember any posts about failed head gaskets on this forum. Not saying it doesn't happen but it does not appear to be a weak point of these engines. Maybe you should look on the Ford Edge forums for head gasket problems before committing to this? Also, I don't know what...
Gates used to make decent stuff, but their reputation has taken a hit recently. No argument there.
I guess it boils down to a case of "buyer beware". There are brands available that still have good reputations, and Rock Auto also labels parts as OEM that come from the same manufacturer that...
I have purchased thousands of dollars of parts from Rock Auto over the years and never had a problem. I'm not sure what your experience is but I'd recommend them for just about any parts for any volume brand.
I don't think you can get the fuel rail off without pulling the manifold. If you watch the video above at about the 16 minute mark, you can see how the fuel rail and injectors are held in place. The rail is one piece so you unfortunately have to pull the entire rail and all the injectors off...
According to Valvoline, that is not the correct fluid. They recommend 3 alternatives:
1. Extended Protection Multi-Vehicle
2. Maxlife Multi-Vehicle
3. Import Multi-Vehicle
