    Single DIN pocket options?

Put in an order with my local Mazda dealership for both the support bar and the open pocket today. I need 'em ASAP and amazingly enough, the parts guy said he can have 'em for me first thing tomorrow morning. Woo! And now I have a new question .. Are there 'default locations' for the head unit...

    Single DIN pocket options?

Bump for this thread! I have a 2000 Protege with a double DIN stock stereo, and I'm soon gonna be replacing it with single DIN head unit -- and I wanna fill the extra space with that pocket njaremka suggested. But do I need to get that support bar as well, or is that only needed for 2001+ models?

    iPhone/iPod connectivity

I do have another question though that's actually related to what Maryjane asked. I'm also going from double DIN to a single DIN, and of course I'd like to get a pocket to fill in the gap that will be created once the cassette player is gone. Do I also have to get the 'support bar' referenced in...

    iPhone/iPod connectivity

I figured there was no real 'easy' fix for the factory stereo, and I looked at the info on that module but I didn't get any warm, fuzzy feelings inside .. so I went ahead and did some research into getting a new head unit. I decided on this one...

    iPhone/iPod connectivity

So yes, yes -- I already did a search and the results didn't bring up any overly recent results, so I figured what the hell, I'll try asking again. I'm soon going to be getting a 2000 Protege ES, which currently has the factory CD and cassette player and radio and whatnot. I've grown very used...

    I'm baaaaaaaack ...

Thanks guys! Despite the fact that this Protege is supposed to be my 'beater', I'm already struggling to keep myself from thinking about all the stuff I COULD do. It's gonna be really hard getting back into a car that's so familiar while having to restrain myself from modding it like mad.

    I'm baaaaaaaack ...

Whelp, I have no idea who'll actually remember me by this point -- but for those that do, let me first apologize for my extended absence. Life has been quite insane, to say the very least, for the past year. But it finally seems to be settling down again and allowing me more time to get back to...

    which tires u rockin?

I ran these on my MSP and loooooooved them: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KDW+2 215/35/18 was the size I ran, since I was on 18" x 7.5" wheels. Think they cost about $130 each.

new paint idea... tell me what you think!!

This! Or why not just buy the color you want in the first place, instead of buying a MSP and completely repainting it? I know they're hard to find, but that's where patience comes into play. Sometimes you have to wait to get what you really want. After my MSP was totaled, I searched for almost...

    another fitment question

I want to say yes, but I'm not 100% sure. My dad owns a 2000 ES, and we often swapped things over between his car and my MSP. I believe the only real differences are in the front bumper, headlights, and front grill.

    Bolt pattern question

YES. I made the same mistake, picking up a set of stock MS3 wheels to replace my steelies -- and MAJORLY failed when I went to put 'em on the car and heard 'CLANG!' cause the center bore wasn't right! However, my situation may have been different because I wasn't on stock rotors -- so MS3...

New Mazdaspeed Protege Owner Checking In!

Well thanks! I still miss my MSP to this day -- and I recently found out that after it was totaled, somebody in Philly bought it and rebuilt it. So it's floating around the city somewhere. But anyhoo -- IMO, the whole rear suspension is retarded right from the factory. The struts are stupid...

^^ There is a way to fix that clunkity-squeak of the MSP's suspension. And make the suspension even better (believe it or not). :) Look up info on the AXR clunk fix bracket kit in the Suspension subforum. I had one on my MSP -- and still wish I'd had the time to rip it off when my MSP was...

MSP down... this is what happens when people don't look

Glad to see pics -- finally! ;) So you've just got to reinstall the FMIC, and then the car will be good to go? Or are you gonna be pulling those parts off that you want to coat, coating 'em, reinstalling 'em, and THEN putting it back on the road?
