Here’s a chance to share your repair misery.
🙂 Any 2016+ CX-9 owners have a significant repair? This should’t include common TSB items (such as faulty infotainment screens) or the dreaded cylinder head crack.
- Water pump replaced 65k
- Brake booster replaced at 117k.
Just curious to see if...
My brake booster just failed. I’ve got 117k miles on a 2018 CX-9.
Bought an aftermarket unit and it won’t work. I ended up calling a dealer in FL to order an OEM booster and paid dearly…Now, a couple more days are needed in a shop as I wait for that to arrive.
Almost no dealerships had this in...
Can anyone help with the attached OBD codes? Curious if there’s known issues in 2016-2023 CX-9s. 114k miles
The check engine light will stay on a couple/three days then, stay off a few days. This has been going on for a couple months. The car idles/accelerates and drives perfectly. Thanks
I have a 2018. The right side 2nd row, bench seat has always had a significant, noisy vibration. I have to “separate” it from the other split side to quiet it. Also, after purchase, I found a large paint defect on the roof. But that’s another story. 😂
Good news is, it’s got 103k miles and still...
I’ve got max value UV / heat rejecting tint on all windows (except the windshield) and a tint strip across the windshield. I crank the AC for 5-10 minutes before reaching a comfortable cooldown except on the hottest days.
I bought my CX-9 in November. When summer came, I quickly noticed how hot...
Sorry to hear this! I’ve read many times going to Mazda corporate can be helpful. Sometimes they’ll offer a partial payment, or full payment. However, some stated they offer nothing. Good luck. What mileage did it happen? Thanks.
My personal thoughts:
I got one life and I love to drive. After the head crack and CX-70 hype bs, my next car will be a BMW X5.
I’m gonna get what I really want, no “settling.”
It’ll cost more but it’ll be worth it.
Life is short. Wishing everyone a nice day.
FTA: “Essentially, it's a trim package that Mazda is trying to pass off as a different model.”

I’ll have random warnings pop up when parked outside on a cold night. “Clear fog from windshield” is a recurring one. No fog on the windshield of course… goes away after 5-10 minutes drive time.
My 2018 CX-9 has 88k miles and it’s been great. I’m going to send off an oil sample for testing soon. If it comes back with the slightest amount of antifreeze, I’ll be trading my car in so frickin’ fast… and not for another Mazda. If necessary, I would’ve considered a CX-70, but there’s BS going...
This cracked cylinder head stuff is starting to spook me. I’ve got a 2018 with 86k miles. So far, no issues other than water pump replaced and a new dash screen.
Exactly. I remember when rentals used to be in decent shape. Rental car companies took pride in their vehicles. The last 10 years or so, nope. Not long ago, I exchanged a car because it steered and braked so poorly I lost confidence in it.
