I have a 2018 CX-5 Touring and just had the Mazda Connect Software Update on April 17. On the paperwork it reads XX703FFX Updated Software Release for Mazda Connect. Underneath it also says 362621 ISP. The update was free.

My 2016 CX-5 Touring lease is almost up and I was going to go with a 2018. But now I see that cloth seats are no longer offered on this trim, and they were not on the 2017 Touring either. I had a car with vinyl (same thing) seats years ago and really disliked it - wore out many seat cushions...
I've had the same problem. I love the convenience but not the reliability. I guess I'll start pressing the button, as I'm sure I'll forget to stop and wait every time.
I took mine to the dealer and he said the same thing, that because there's a motor it's normal to have a little play. He got in and tried it. Bothers me, though. I'll probably go back.
