2017~2025 Warm Up Time And Cold Temp Indicator

When catalyst is cold, the valve, ignition and fuel timing is altered so the raw fuel can enter the catalytic converter for the fastest possible warm-up. The engine sounds rough as the result.

2017~2025 Warm Up Time And Cold Temp Indicator

Re-read your manual. The car should not be driven hard before the light goes off. It goes off at 62C or 144F. Operational temperature is about 85C or 185F.

What kind of wear do you see on your winter tires?

Yeah, on my Tahoe I have two sets of rims with sensors, and the tool to check them in... It gets quite expensive really fast for the convenience of knowing individual tire pressure...

What kind of wear do you see on your winter tires?

We have 17" Blizzak WS80 on our CX-5, that's a fourth season, but only about 18k km on them, December through April. I can't tell they've lost any of their winter grip capabilities. Still great in snow and on ice. Will check the tread depth when I get a car from my wife to change oil and switch...

    SkyActiv Oil Analysis Thread

Good point, around piston rings and at friction points, yes. Momentarily. I don't think that the temp sensor is actually in the sump though, not sure. In my Tahoe the sensor doubles as a pressure sensor, mounted quite high. The oil temp oftenly gets above the coolant, 95+C, with spirited...

    SkyActiv Oil Analysis Thread

As you know, Blackstone is notorious for it's fuel inaccuracy. Flash point IS your fuel dilution. The oil in the sump of our engine does not get above 85C-185F, so I'm not sure how much fuel would evaporate on the long trip. Some, indeed, but is it material?

    Claybar Bars

I have, and I like it more then clay. Maybe because I'm getting lazy after years of perfecting the car for the next owner... To me, it is easier to work with, and it becomes a two beer bottles ordeal instead of three. But you gotta make sure that everything is perfectly wet, and that you apply...

Email back from Mazda - Transmission Fluid Change

The problem with CSR is that the reps, while being polite and well-spoken, have no clue about most of the subjects in question. It is understandable, engineer's time is much too valuable. This transmission can not be qualified as sealed under any view angle.

Mud and Snow inside portion of rear doors...Help

Get some cheap soft tubular self-adhesive weatherstripping from EBay and apply around the door close to the edge. Just make sure the door is closing allright.

    SkyActiv Oil Analysis Thread

Yeah, the engine will run for quite some time with no oil in it at all, and one can hollow the filter out and the car will still push some incredible miles... So? This is the forum for tech enthusiasts, for some extra bling discussion and opinion on the wheel looks under certain angle of...

    Where to mount voltmeter?

What you're doing is a sure way to kill the battery. Don't leave anything plugged in, and power your camera from independent battery, if you must leave it on. It takes a long time for the alternator to bring the battery into acceptable state of charge after the engine start. If you drain it all...

    CX-5 Cylinder deactivation

For those who lease, that's not an issue at all. Mazda could have improved on quality and tolerances of it's CD components, and the functionality algorithms. Like they did with the whole Skyactiv project. If their failure rate comes well below of that of GM or Chrysler, this will not be an issue...

    CX-5 Cylinder deactivation

They were not, that's what I'm saying. Attempts were made with updated valve cover and AFM valve muzzle in the pan, but that didn't help much, many 2013 trucks and 2014 SUVs still suffered, the biggest problem is stuck/collapsed lifters. I know, because I was right there more then once where the...

    CX-5 Cylinder deactivation

No, we are talking about 2007-2014 Vortec engines in nnbs body. They all suffer from the issue, as much as even older LS-derrived engines.

    CX-5 Cylinder deactivation

You mean, four years, right? 2014 is the last year of NNBS SUVs of the era, I have one. So not that ancient at all. The 2014+ pickups/2015+ SUVs are too new to develop the issue we're talking about. However, there are already discussions on the GM forums.
