I've noticed the same thing on mine. The throw-out bearing, when unloaded, was noisy with only 30 miles on the car!
When you press the clutch in, the noise goes away as the bearing is loaded at that point.
Don't forget the wear and tear on the tires, mounting and dismounting. Evertime you do this, you run the risk that the tire gets damaged in the bead area. It's also a good way to get your wheels scratched up if the technician isn't careful.
Yes, the conversion "kits" that I have seen consists of the Mazda oil filter housing (from the 2.0l), gasket, and the option of spin on oil filters.
My original question still stands....
I've noticed that quite a few people have converted their Mazdaspeed 3s using, what appears to be the OE oil filter housing designed for the 2.0l / 2.3l NON-turbo engines.
Is this a good idea?
I really would prefer the screw on type oil filter, but I wonder why Mazda would have developed a...
Get some inexpensive 17" alloy wheels (see my previous post), and check with your local Cooper Tire dealership for a set of 215/50R17 Weathermaster S/T 2 winter tires.
Discount Tire has a great deal on the MB Gear 17"x7" alloy wheels. I just bought a set (including Gorilla lug wheel install kit $45) for $372 shipped to my door in 2 days.
OK...found out some more information.
The sensors are fitted with a "long life" battery (Lithium-Ion) and have electronics designed to maximize battery life. This means that the sensors go into a "standby" mode when not in motion and require the rotational motion to "wake" them up...
Thanks for the information.
If they don't require charging by rotation, then I suppose I can install the sensors in a pressurized PCV pipe and throw it in the back! Excellent.
Did you change your sensors? There shouldn't be any problem if you are still using the same four sensors.
Edit:
Also, if the systems gets no signal from any of the wheels, it will not display a problem for about 100 miles.
The reason (I think) is so that if someone were to let the car sit...
Does anyone know if this Mazda procedure works on the 2008 Mazdaspeed 3?
See page 6 for the "Wheel Unit Auto Registration" procedure.

FYI - On the subject of TPMS sensors...
The computer for your TPMS will only recognize one set of sensors at a time. If you purchase a new set of sensor, Mazda will have to enter the individual numbers into the computer as "set B" for the system to recognize them. They charge $88 to do this...
S plan pricing
I just bought a 2008.5 Mazdaspeed 3, (Grand Touring package) last week for the "S plan" invoice price.
Since the Speed versions do not qualify for S plan pricing, you have to convince the dealership to give you that pricing. In today's market it's very easy. You will likely...
