2016 CX-5 rear brake TSB resolution

I think some folks just have the pads sticking in the caliper. Theres a spring above the pads and its kind of a pain(more so than others Ive done) to get the whole assembly back together. I had what I thought was a sticking rear caliper. Brought it to the dealer with 35k and change on it. They...

    Lighting

I wish the DRLs were just the accent lights outlining the headlights and not the actual headlights. Less refined and classy with the headlights on a lower setting.

High Mileage CX-5s - report in

170k on a transmission seems good. I would think highway driving would be better than city stop and go.

2019 CX-5 music stops screen reboots

Whats interesting is that in the thread below, everyone is saying .335 made everything better for them. https://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123868443-Almost-instant-boot-up/page5 Im bringing my GT-R in Friday to have the firmware updated(intermittently slow boot up on .100) and to...

17" Wheels Fit Over Signature Brakes?

I run 17s in the winter on my GT-R. Wheel weights barely clear the caliper, but they fit.

    2018 CX-5 Low Speed Transmission Hesitation/Jerk/Lurch

Shift flair isnt a noise. Its minor converter slip. The RPMs jump slightly and hang before dropping when the converter locks for second gear. I posted a video in another thread. I didnt fully remove the air box but I removed the filter and moved the box up and to the side. Removing it requires...

    High pitched whine (2019 CX-5)

I dont know what it is, but all the skyactiv vehicles Ive owned and still own do this. The whining is followed by a clicking.

    2019 Signature Vibration/Shake

Test drive the vehicle on the highway before you buy it. Have the dealer correct it before purchasing if there is an issue. The design of the Cx5(and probably all Mazdas) makes them sensitive to minor tire imperfections. Thats just what youre going to get with a well performing vehicle in this...

Man I hate driving my CX-5

I think youre all being a bit dramatic about the performance of the N/A 2.5. I still enjoy driving our 16.5 GT. Around town, its just fine. On the highway is where it could definitely use more power. The turbo 2.5 is definitely great. As long as its not below 20 degrees F out....

    2018 CX-5 Low Speed Transmission Hesitation/Jerk/Lurch

Did you noticed shift flair in any of these vehicles. Specifically on the 1-2 shift before operating temperature is reached? My 2019 GT-R has a flair in that scenario. I finally scheduled an appointment for next week. Also sometimes has a flair when slowing down to around 18-25 then getting...

    20,000 miles in a CX5 GT-R...

Nice write up. Ive had my GT-R for the same amount of time but half the miles. I agree with everything you said, but some things bother me more than you. The transmission is towards the top of my complaints. I think you described the issues quite well. Temperature is a huge factor in mine...

Wish my GTR had a Gen 1 Suspension

I found a YouTube video with Dave Colman talking about the signature and GT-R having rebound springs in the shocks that work with the bump stops to help control body roll. Not clear if its GT-R and signature specific though.

Wish my GTR had a Gen 1 Suspension

Kind of surprised by some of the replies. Anyone know if there are any differences between the signatures, reserves and lowers trims? The wheel well gap is almost equal front and back on my Reserve. However, when I see other seconds gens that arent reserves or sigs. The wheel well back in the...

Wish my GTR had a Gen 1 Suspension

Did your 15 have 19s? I agree it feels more refined.I just find the 16 is firmer, resulting in better handling. Dont get me wrong, it handles well and doesnt complain when pushed. Just softer than I would like. The 16 feels more like a sporty car. The 19 more like a sporty SUV. For example...

Wish my GTR had a Gen 1 Suspension

Does anybody else who went from a gen 1 to a gen 2 (or still have both) feel this way? When I get in my wifes 16 GT, it makes me frustrated with how my GTR handles. The reserve feels like it floats around too much when compared to the 16.. I understand they softened the suspension since thats...

Love My New 2019 CX-5 Touring...Except for the Seats

Yup. Worst thing about this vehicle. Little over 5k miles on mine now and the seats have not improved. Most expensive car Ive ever owned yet the most uncomfortable. Its just stupid how narrow the seat base is. And the foam is way too firm in the bolsters. My hips and thighs are always sore. I...

CX-5 GT-R Sloppy Shift Into Second When Cold

Seems like its the converter locking from what I can tell. However the way it functions is much different when its not at operating temp. It also does this when shifting into second at higher RPMs, so its not just below the 1800 rpm lockup. Ill get an updated video with a higher rpm shift...

    GT-R oil overfilled

Didnt realize this thread would annoy so many people. I was just interested in what other people were seeing and then figured Id share my update. Which is what I thought was the purpose of a forum like this. To be fair, I didnt expect it to be 5 pages.

CX-5 GT-R Sloppy Shift Into Second When Cold

Heres a video. At 5 seconds it attempts to shift into second gear but then closer to 7 seconds it actually shifts into second. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUXq7-p6sts&app=desktop

    GT-R oil overfilled

First oil change at 5200 miles last week. It took 5.5 quarts to read just below the top hole on the stick. My guess is they put 6 quarts in at the factory. Ill be sending a sample out for analysis. Hopefully it doesnt come back with high fuel dillution.
