    Buying a used CX-9 2016 or 2017 - need advice

If comparing between 2017 and 2016, I would pick the 2017. There were safety enhancements that allowed the GT and up to get the top safety pick awards. Just make sure the build was after October 2016 or something. IMO, the more significant jump is on the 2018s, the Stop and Go CC, heated...

Very happy with the Deep Crystal blue mica color

I have the same color as well. I haven't seen a similar color on the road thus far

    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Again, goes back to my comment about execution. You get the sense that Mazda's corporate system is still disjointed especially in North America.

    Auto unlock options?

Mazda actually had this feature previously. On my old 2010 6 GT, the front door handles had sensors that detected when you slid your hand in and unlocked automatically. They worked, but they were really finicky, I prefer the redundancy of the push button style personally

My guess is the wheel speed sensor?

Have you pulled the Fault code? That would be step 1, Autozone and Advance can pull most OBD codes for free if you don't have a scanner

    '18 CX-9 and Fortin Remote Car Starter...Success!

Seems like many folks here have had success with this system. I can also vouch for Crutchfield, fantastic customer support if you choose to go this route.

    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

I couldn't care less about what Nissan is doing. They lost my business 10 years ago. I *DO* care about Mazda, their statements, their processes, their execution, differentiation and strategy. Be as it may, this is my third Mazda, and I'll be looking to replace this one some day. As for BMW, at...

    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

This thread was very specific. AA/ AC deployment. Unless I missed something, I am not sure why you are implying there's a trend of moaning about Mazda's shortcomings or that our priorities are misguided for wanting this feature. Personally, it is something I would have appreciated having...

    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

I know you directed this at dan, but I think like anything else, nothing truly ever meets 100% of your checklist. Everyone has different weighting factors on price/ performance/ features/ aesthetics. IMO, If I had to do it all over again, I would still buy the CX-9 since driveability was about...

    '18 CX-9 and Fortin Remote Car Starter...Success!

I think for this system, pushing the start button is what actually prevents just that risk of theft as it allows the car to recognize that you have the key on you. Otherwise if you didn't do this, it'd shut off when you tried to press the brake (in order to shift to Drive). Mazda was really...

    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

I am pissed off because my 2017 Mazda CX-9, will not be eligible for an Android Auto upgrade (based on yesterday's presser) when I know for a fact that the system is capable of running right now with a minor sw update. Technically yes, they've "never committed" to anything, but in principle this...

    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

I'm pissed off too, that's the definition of shafting customers after stringing them along for years. The retrofit sounds to me like a dealer-added option, implying it's not going to be free even for the 2018s. So far, I have been less than impressed by the service experience to even want to...

    '18 CX-9 and Fortin Remote Car Starter...Success!

Nice! I may have to look into this. Do you get a separate keyfob with this setup or somehow integrate the Mazda stock remote start unit?

Mazda CX-9 adds rear seat entertainment system on new and late-model years

To me this seems like a last-minute hodge podge system cloned from one of those generic eBay DVD players just to check a box. Unless it is a "dockable" tablet with WIFI and what not, $2,000 is laughable, especially considering they've all but acknowledged people's preference for the iPod/...

    '18 CX-9 and Fortin Remote Car Starter...Success!

Does it shut off the engine when you open the door or did you implement some sort of bypass for this?

For those complaining about our infotainment system

I think it has to do with the philosophy. Mazda's general execution from bodywork all the way to performance seems very deliberate, so one would expect them to bring the same level of diligence in usability/ operator experience. While I do think it could be better, from my experience with 30+...

    Confused between Cx9 and GX460

I think many have chimed in with many valid points on this comparison. OP, the only thing I'd add is to keep note of towing limitations from the CX-9. From a drive-ability standpoint, this may also be big deal, given that you are coming from a large vehicle. If I was at the ~$50k price point...

    Issues/Annoyances on 2017 CX-9

My complaint is with wind noise on the driver's side window and the lack of standard remote start option (with feedback) that doesn't shut off when you open the door. Other than that, the car's been solid in the intense Mid-west winter weather we've had this year. I've had a lot more remorse...

    Infotainment display TSB

My issue is somewhere in the middle of that. When you start the car, the screen is blank. Audio and controls work just fine with the only fix being to actually restart the car (or key-cycle). Both times, this happened after a particularly cold night. When I took mine in, I was told that my sw...

    Infotainment display TSB

If you haven't already, I would suggest you call ahead. They may have to get the part ordered in if there are no spares, and apparently a claim number is needed to trigger this.
