thanks for the info. I really wish the flip key trunk button would work! Now I'm not sure I want a flip key with a useless trunk button. I wonder if it would be possible to swap out the keyless entry from a 6 into the 3...hmmm

SP23 is just a special trim level that came out only in 2005. I believe only 2000 were made? Heated leather seats, bose sound system, special badges, etc.

One of the downsides to the Mazda3 sedan is that there is no trunk release, forcing us to either a) pull the trunk release lever near the driver's seat, which takes time if you're outside the car or b) use the key in the keyhole in the trunk, potentially scratching the paint if we don't have...
