Mazda - Made in Mexico Oil Filters are Faulty

I think he's talking about the perforations on the ID, not the end. It's hard to tell though, they might not be straight through, but more like 'louvered' punches.

Intermittent no crank unless shifter wiggle (2012 CX-9)

Not quite the same, but this is an issue with some 5th gen Ford Explorers. There's a switch in the center console that's the issue. The transmission is in park by the cable, but the switch by the shifter doesn't get triggered so the computer doesn't think it's in park. Maybe you have a loose...

    Sunroof Issue - 2019 CX-5 Signature

If it's normal, ask them what is causing it and why not all CX5's have this 'normal' behavior. Them (windows/sunroof) working separately doesn't explain why it has this issue when combined. Go at them with the 5 why's for determining root cause.

2013 CX-5 2.2D PCM Replacement options due to Faulty Injectors

What type of scope did you use? Are you able to swap that injector to another cylinder to verify it follows the injector? Based on your testing, it does seem like a bad injector, but if you can do a quick injector swap and it follows the injector, that would be another confirmed dead injector test.

2013~2016 CX-5 Changing to LED lights for regular and high beam…Help

I agree with the change to 9011. I don't have a CX5, but my 2014 Explorer specs the 9005 bulb for low/high beams. It has the shutter to cut off the top of the beam in low mode. I think I just had to trim half of the top tab off to get the 9011 bulbs to fit. Takes longer to remove the bulb from...

I bet it smell minty too, double win. :)

Film on Inside of All 4 Windows

Yes. 0000 (that's 4 zeros) steel wool. Very fine. I did the outside of my windows to get little bits of debris and some water spots off the surface. I did it wet using the car wash soap I had in the bucket, but any cleaner/soap should work for light lubrication. If you have aftermarket window...

Help me decide! 2023 CX-50 GSL or CX-5 Turbo

For the comment about trade vs. sell to dealer, maybe it was worth the offset. When I bought my Edge in January, it was better for me to sell my previous vehicle to Carmax than trade it in at the Edge selling dealer (I didn't buy from Carmax), even with the tax break for trading in. I tried to...

Looking for smaller Mazda key fob

I agree that phone goes in front pocket. I don't wear skinny jeans, so no issues with space/sitting down. Plus, I would think a phone on the back pocket would be worst for sitting. I'm also a front pocket wallet guy. Phone left, wallet right. While it's not a CX5 fob, my Edge key fob is a bit...

New owner 2.2L CX-5, new mod questions

If it's completely stock engine, stick to OEM or OEM type replacement air filters....or at least stay away from K&N. Filtering efficiency on them is terrible and they plug up much faster than OEM type. You will not see any performance/economy increase....unless the current filters is severely...

2011 CX-9 Stutter / jitter when accelerating at cold startup and highway speeds...Ideas?!

It's been a while since I used it, but I think I had to run the fault code scan while driving the vehicle. It would cycle through scanning the different parameters and then repeat over and over. I think it took a few minutes to cycle through all the parameters and then restart the scan. After...

2011 CX-9 Stutter / jitter when accelerating at cold startup and highway speeds...Ideas?!

Check plugs/coils. My wife's CX9 had a similar stutter, most noticeable at highway speeds at lower rpm and under load with torque converter locked up. It was fairly violent when it did it. Initially I thought it was transmission related, but I decided to buy a bluetooth OBDII reader and Torque...

    Driver Info Screen Problem

I wonder if it has to do with time rather than actual distance. The old 2 second rule, or whatever it is. At 50mph, it's X distance. At 70mph is X+Y distance to equal roughly same time space to vehicle in front. Just a thought.

    Oil quality confusing

I see what you're saying, but a counter. Cold oil in the pan needs to be sucked into the oil pump. If oil cannot be sucked into the pump, it cannot be put under pressure. The pistons/rings are not under any oil pressure and rely on the film strength. That's somewhat represented by the rotating...

    Oil quality confusing

I concur. I really like his videos/tests. He's done a handful of different oil comparison videos. Be careful, if you're like me, you'll end up going down the Project Farm video black hole. :) If you change your oil regularly and use synthetic or synthetic blend and quality filter, you really...

Poll MRCC vs. Regular cruise control

I don't have MRCC specifically (I don't currently have a Mazda), but my previous VW Golf R and current Ford Edge have radar cruise control. It took a little time to get used to the radar CC, but after using it and then jumping into my other vehicle that has regular, I really miss the radar. My...

    Destination LE3 Tires?

I have the LE3's on my 14 Explorer with 20" wheels. About 8k miles on them. I got them right before last winter. They were a noticeable improvement in winter traction over the worn Michelin Premier LTX I had on it before. New for new they are about even. Both were lightyears ahead of the OE...

Comparing 87 to 91 octane for the 2.5L non-turbo engine

To be clear, I didn't say cannot, I said doesn't. What I mean is that the ECU (again, in my Mustang) doesn't learn/adjust anything by itself due to octane changes. I can make changes in the tune to optimize it for a specific octane, but then it won't be optimized for a different one. If I...

Comparing 87 to 91 octane for the 2.5L non-turbo engine

LOL, obviously I'm not the bestest (yeah, you read that right) at explaining. It makes sense in my head because I've been playing around with the tune lately. In short, the ECU in my stang doesn't optimize for different octane fuel. Has to be done manually via tuning software.
