Engine cut out while climbing mountain pass

Last night while driving I tried pressing on the brake while also pressing on the gas and nothing odd happened. I was pressing pretty solidly on both. No lights came on at all, the engine didn't cut out, it may have cut power some as the brakes were winning the battle or the brakes might just...

Engine cut out while climbing mountain pass

shouldn't it just cut power to the engine while both pedals are pressed and return it once you let go of the brake? I know everyone is paranoid after the Toyota/Lexus thing but that seems like overdoing it for a solution.

    Miles on odometer at delivery

and the OP said that happened with this car. Mazda does still recommend avoiding a few things during the first 600 miles to "add to the performance, economy, and life" of your car. Which basically sounds a lot like a 'break-in period': No special break-in is necessary, but a few precautions...

BLUETOOTH COMPATIBILITY ISSUES - did you know they have a website for it?!

if it is Mazda's fault then why do some work and others not work? I guess Mazda could make their system more forgiving to the quirks of the phones but still sounds like it is the phones that aren't quite 'right'.

    Xpel Paint protection film

If you plan on keeping the car a long time and drive where a lot of stuff gets kicked up it isn't even a waste of money to pay someone to do it. It can be very expensive to pay someone, I got a quote of around $750 which was more than I wanted to spend but the stuff is really amazing. I've had...

Are the seats comfortable? Plus, a bonus question - is now the time?

and I'm in no way saying the seats are uncomfortable just that they aren't perfect for me as I do tend to notice them more than other cars, including our Mazda3. Not an actual pain sort of comfort problem but just an annoyance every now and then.

    19" Wheels and Tyres

I forget what I came up with. I usually go to: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html and punch in the current and new tire sizes until I get one that is really close overall.

Are the seats comfortable? Plus, a bonus question - is now the time?

only if they fit you well. It is all about the shape. My comment about more cushioning was just for a tad bit more to make it 'feel' like the seats were wrapping around you. The vinyl coated leather is a bit stiff which also probably adds to the feel of the seats being firm. First...

    19" Wheels and Tyres

We are talking about when it comes time to replace all the tires. Initially there were only 2 choices and the OE tires have actually come down some in price, I think they were near $400 a tire at the start. A much better situation than when our P5 took a nail that went out the sidewall...

Are the seats comfortable? Plus, a bonus question - is now the time?

The seats are definitely firm. I find I have to take my wallet out of my pocket on longer drives. To me they aren't the best seats or the worst seats I've been in on long drives. They aren't as instantly comfortable as the Terrain we rented and put 1500 miles on were. Those just seemed...

    19" Wheels and Tyres

I don't know if 3 tire choices is what I'd consider to be a lot. Hopefully they will have more later when tire replacements are needed. The only thing I don't like about my CX5 is on too many of the roads around here it will beat you up pretty good with transmitting a bit too much road feel...

    2013 CX-5 versus 2013 Impreza

I cross-shopped both and was pretty excited about looking at the Impreza but didn't get past sitting in it. It just felt too basic. Nothing said 'quality'. It didn't have that really solid 'new' feel to it. It sat too low (felt even lower than the Mazda3). I think what I took as cheap...

Installed Morimoto Elite HID (non-xenon pkg)

As a fellow driver on the road I'm not sure that is really comforting that the setup isn't as annoying driving towards as someone driving with their high beams on. That's not really the measure I'd go for. Personally I'll take an occasional person not realizing they have their brights on over...

So when can we expect the official 2014 EPA numbers?

I'd think the CX-5 could give some of those quite a run on a curvy road. Whenever I come up on the back of another 'faster' car that is in my way and really slowing me down I'll often think (and sometimes say) "It is a good thing those people aren't driving a slow CX5" But in all reality, if...

    Anyone have tan Weathertechs?

are they their "RUBBERTITE" mats? If they are the same material as one of their competitors use the smell likely won't ever completely go away. There's similar ones made by another company that uses a deodorizer that mortuaries use on them before they ship and it doesn't even kill the smell...

Adding VDO gauges, Oil temp and Coolant temp.. or Oil press?

Does the coolant temp warning come on it time to still get somewhere or is it the usual "Stop driving now or you will kill the engine" warning. It isn't likely an issue now but as the cars age, even a well maintained car can have issues at higher 6 digit miles miles where it would be nice to...

    I need a new horn

For years I've been saying "You'll never convince an idiot that they are an idiot" so generally there is no way to make them realize they are a moron and often you end up looking like one if handled wrong. You could chase them down, yelling and screaming at them trying to run them off the road...
