    First 2014 in Minnesota?

Some people enjoy the negotiating and more power to them. I for one like a nice fair price locked in when I go to the dealership to avoid games. When I was shopping, if a dealer didn't give me a price by email I just moved on to the next dealer.

    Infotainment Software Update?

I don't disagree that it would be cool, I just think our 'infotainment system' is so basic that Mazda may not even think of upgrading older ones. Like I mentioned, the GM and Ford systems are actually advertised as reasons to look at their cars. And as such are also one of the reasons...

    Infotainment Software Update?

unless of course they don't want to deal with having to offer it as a free "under warranty" item like sxa mentioned that a lot of people would demand. I have trouble seeing it as a warranty item since they aren't defects in the way it operates they are just different features. And it wasn't...

What do you use to clean the black trim of the CX-5?

Wolfgang trim sealant. Stones trim shine. 303 aerospace protectant. The wolfgang stuff is expensive but looks good and holds up pretty well. The stoners looks great but is spray on so hard to keep just on the trim. The 303 doesnt hold up as well in the rain but protects well

Driving on the freeway and ALL warning lights came on

I think the electronics in cars have outpaced the ability to diagnose them. Car and Drivers long term Volvo S60 had a problem where the final solution from the factory was to replace a ton of stuff in it: "When our long-term Volvo S60 T6 played dead several times early in its life...

CX-5 vs CRV vs VW JSW TDI

That is what I gathered from a lot of research when car shopping. With VW's people either seem to get ones that have a lot of problems or no problems. I've seen VW come up right next to Mazda on some reliability surveys but I really don't give those much weight. Two people we know got rid...

Installed HID Conversion Kit on CX-5 Headlights H11 / 5000K

the really, really bad glare is from the non-projector ones but I see a lot of ones with projector headlights that glare noticeably and distract. http://youtu.be/B19G2RvoKuY at about the 3 second mark you can see a fair amount of light even with the camera at a very high, close angle. All...

Installed HID Conversion Kit on CX-5 Headlights H11 / 5000K

Have any pictures of before and after from the front? All the HID conversions I've seen glare a noticeable amount more than the stock lights. And while I love more light in front of me at night I'm not willing to become the guy killing the oncoming traffics ability to see.

Question about CX-5 car care/maintenance, what is free, what is not?

I have to agree a bit, as my first thought was "is this question for real". But at the same time the great thing about forums like this is they become repositories of information for future owners so even if the answer can be found on Google it is kinda nice also having it here. One thing I...

Question about CX-5 car care/maintenance, what is free, what is not?

Does Mazda have an actual Mazda deal like that? Or is it just something that the dealer put together? Modern cars don't tend to need a lot of maintenance parts or work done, even in 75,000 miles. Remember when cars needed tune-ups on a regular basis?

    Oil change intervals, who decides?

The problem with saying "Mazda can't deny warranty coverage" is a company can do anything it wants until it is forced to do otherwise. Look at Toyota and the oil sludge problem. It took years and a class action suit before they acted. And in all honesty I think it does the world a...

    rear bumper fog lights/reflectors.

If there was a way to mount it down under the back end it would look better. But there probably isn't much solid to mount a bracket to there. My only question on these lights is do they make your brake lights less noticeable? I'd worry that the brighter light being on all the time might...

    rear bumper fog lights/reflectors.

I emailed a couple dealers overseas when I saw they had some other accessories I wanted and never heard back so I gave up. Also figured the customs fees might be more than I'd want to pay and not knowing those up front could be fun. I actually bought some car sealant (wax) from Hungary a...

    rear bumper fog lights/reflectors.

I guess it is worth a shot but most (if not all) UK dealers will probably think the profit they would make on them wouldn't be worth the added hassle and risk of fraud (international credit cards are fun) to mess with trying to export them. Especially on an individual basis. Generally the way...

    what oil do you recommend.

at least while under warranty, I'd stay with Mazda's recommended oil change intervals. I'd assume your 2011 is still covered and Mazda might frown on going 2 to 3 times their recommended range. I know engines have changed and improved since then but years ago I spoke to a guy that owned an...

    rear bumper fog lights/reflectors.

ahhh, never thought of that problem. I've always thought the idea behind rear fog lights was a good one. But I could see that happening a lot, especially when so many drivers seem to think lights are a decorative item on cars: They are great when they are on all the time and purple :)...

    Electric Air Intake "Supercharger"

I'm so cynical that someday I may miss out on something good due to disbelief but the want for what sounds too good to be true to actually be true parts a lot of people with a lot of money. Oh, gotta run, I just got an email from a guy in Nigeria that wants me to help him get some money out of...

    hidden personalization features

" You could get some low-beam headlights capable of 160 watts per vehicle, or you could opt for the more economical LED-based lamps that use only 16 watts per vehicle" Those are some mighty bright "low" beams at 80 watts per bulb. They have a valid point about using 'more' fuel but as so...

Engine cut out while climbing mountain pass

my guess is if you actually had to stop the car and restart it to get any power back it would open up a lot more liability than continuing to accelerate with both pedals pressed. Too many situations where that could leave you in the path of oncoming cars. All the override systems I've heard...
