    drivers door rattle

the drivers door has started rattling. If I press against the armrest pushing directly out it will stop for a bit but then start up again after awhile. And if I put my arm on the armrest it starts right away and is louder. anyone run into similar?

How to clean black plastic trim?

I've got a shelf full of products and so far this is what I like the best on the CX5 http://www.autogeek.net/wolfgang-trim-sealant.html the 303 doesn't last long enough for me most times on the exterior.

    Apply Leather Dressing to Seats

keep in mind the leather is coated so the lotion type stuff has minimal effect. http://303products.com/index.php/product-uses/automotive-leather

2nd post: Possible solution for rear headrest issue.

yeah, it is so unusual for different cars from different companies to have different features. shocking....... On the recent survey from Mazda they had section where they gave you a set amount of money and you had to pick from a huge list of optional items what you'd opt for with that money...

2nd post: Possible solution for rear headrest issue.

Yep, our 3 has it. Too bad Mazda didn't raid that parts bin when putting the CX5 together. oh, and they don't interchange. The pins are a larger diameter on the CX5. I think they cut some corners so they could keep the price down. The headliner is better on the 3 too, even the cover for...

The rise of the "fake" engine roar

I think the sound tubes on the VW and A3 came before the electric cars got popular enough to get people calling for them to make sounds at low speeds to protect the vision impaired. shoot, I remember years ago on pimp my ride they added speakers to the outside of the car and could select things...

The rise of the "fake" engine roar

I thought VW just used a tube from the intake to the firewall to transmit actual noise a bit better. They've been doing that for quite some time now. I guess the speaker is new. The problem really results from cars getting better and better sound deadening and there isn't a good way to let...

    usb mp3 playlists?

exactly, you can't beat a USB drive for just dragging and dropping the music. Sony's music players let you do that if you want to. They don't assume you are too stupid to be trusted doing something so complex :)

    new personal best in mpg

that looks about right for that sort of driving area. Although I rented a Jetta once and drove it to SF and around the downtown (for a lot longer than I wanted to) and did a lot of full throttle starts on the hills to zip past people stopped in stupid places and got home with an average of 30...

Front part of the drivers seat leather

my guess is the cloth and leather/vinyl attach differently. Especially since to replace the clips on mine they'd have to remove the seat material completely and, as mentioned above, outsource stitching new clips onto it.

    Rumor: 2014 CX-5 to offer 2.5L engine

    0-60 MPH in 8.44 seconds

my butt dyno says mine doesn't get too close to that. the wifes 2.5 Mazda3 feels much faster but it pulls from lower rpms stronger too. On full throttle passes her car is too easy to close in on 90 whereas the CX5 is at 80 in about the same time. Like all small 4cyl I find it depends on...

Front part of the drivers seat leather

The passenger side on mine it just slides up around an edge. On the drivers side it has 2 separate clips about 3" long on the front and one small 2" clip towards the center console.

Front part of the drivers seat leather

I didn't see any earlier posts when I searched. And the clips are sewn into the vinyl so it isn't something that can just be replaced. logically it would be but the clip is facing the wrong way to just grab an open slot. It somehow has to fold around and tuck in under something. Picture...

Front part of the drivers seat leather

from what I can tell they made the plastic clips longer than the metal section they clip over.

not as impressed with Mazdas 'initial quality' as I used to be

Our old Protege5 was pretty much free of little annoyances, especially early on. But so far my CX5 has had the seat leather come loose from the drivers seat at the front and the hood latch wasn't adjusted properly causing the hood to rattle at the front. My wifes Mazda3 (9 months old) had a...

    new personal best in mpg

I'm running the stock 36lbs in the tires. Once I saw how much these tires cost to replace I decided to stick with the recommended pressure. The bulk of the trip was 2 lane back road highways not big wide freeways. I80 had a lot of construction so whenever possible we avoided it. Ended up...
