What is your CX-5 “Must have”?

They come on automatically when you turn on the rear defroster - which is also generally good to have on when you have windows fogging over on the outside as you drive.

What is your CX-5 “Must have”?

It's been so long since I had a vehicle that didn't have heated mirrors that I just took them as a given standard feature. But yeah... they're an absolute requirement, not just for cold weather. Anybody who lives in an area that's subject to mornings where the dew re-forms on surfaces in...

This Forum Lacks Excitement and That is WONDERFUL!

Heh... I went looking for my old posts. The database cut me off a shade over 11 years ago. I reserve the right to call you 'whippersnapper'.

What is your CX-5 “Must have”?

I will never buy another primary-use vehicle that doesn’t have HUD, ventilated seats, and a top-down camera view.

Which CX-5 years were they built in Japan?

Go to Carmax or your preferred high-volume used vehicle online seller. Search for CX-5s of various model years. If the VIN starts with J, it was built in Japan.

    Weight of CX-50 Wheel?

If you can weigh a complete wheel and tire assembly, just subtract the tire weight (24 lb) from the total to get the wheel weight.

    202/65R16 Winter Wheel/Tire Setup for Tuned 2015 Mazda6?

When you need new tires, look at options in 215/65R16. Back when I had a 2016 Mazda6, that's what I used in winter. The revs per mile rating was an exact match for the 225/45R19 stock tires. Yes, winter performance will be degraded, but mostly because you're using a soft tread compound with...

    Any black lug nuts fit?

I've noticed when looking at wheels on dealer sites that putting in 2024 will give you access to everything that fits a CX-90, while putting in 2025 will severely limit your choices. I'd bet that's what's going on, here.

    Evaporative fuel emissions flap disappeared

A real engine problem? Highly unlikely. Will it make the check engine light come on? I wouldn't say no.

Mazda teasing all new 2026 CX-5!

Because Mazda's Marketing department says so.

    Evaporative fuel emissions flap disappeared

I'd bet that it's still attached, but it got stuck in the position where it sits while you have a fuel nozzle in the filler neck.

My car hoots when I turn it off

It’s part of the emissions control system. Give a hoot… don’t pollute! If you grew up in the 80s, this would be hilarious.

Mazda teasing all new 2026 CX-5!

Everything you named is a marketing term, not anything to do with the actual construction of the vehicle. In Michigan, they'll all say "wagon" on the registration.

Tire recommendations for the CX-90 PHEV?

Huh… I hadn’t seen that they had been introduced in 275/45R21. Might make me rethink my idea of downsizing to 20”.

    EPB turning itself on?

If you have your foot on the brake pedal, pressing the auto hold will keep the brakes applied even after letting up on the pedal, until you press the accelerator. Once it's on it will stay on until you either shut the ignition off or press the brake and then hit the button again. It's very...

    2017 CX-5 AC blowing a bit warm

If I had to guess, there's a switch that will automatically disable the AC if the cooling fan can't keep up with the heat being rejected by the radiator and condenser. It wouldn't be hard to program it with some combination of coolant temperature and fan duty cycle to trigger AC disengagement...

    It's a miracle! Scotty likes the gen2 Mazda CX-5

I saw two of them on the road, today, but hell if I could describe anything more than the highest-level design details. That thing is utterly forgettable.
