What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Ok, I'll try this again. Two fittings that you see on the picture of ATF cooler are for the coolant. Two ports on the other side that bolts to the tranny are for ATF. We buy another ATF cooler, just like the one on the car, and modify it. Cut it open (hope pipe cutter will do), hack the...

    OBD Fusion

Yep, just Fords and Mazdas, but it is good at what it's doing. Yes, I have ambient temperature, battery voltage, coolant, engine oil, ATF and rear diff temperatures, rear diff clutch duty cycle, all at once, on my phone. All live data. PID selection is quite wast, it engages everything available...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Respectfully, this is not true. Just take a look at the heat exchanger, AKA ATF cooler for Skyactiv transmissions. The images are all over the internet. It is bolted to the block, 3 bolts, and it is out. Two gaskets for ATF ports that come with a new exchanger.

    OBD Fusion

I wonder what can Fusion do that free Forscan can't? You just need a laptop and a decent OBD adapter. That's if you want to flash modules, otherwise your phone and the said adapter will provide all the info that you're looking for. I like pulling all kinds of crazy data from out of there while...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I'm gonna try this again, however this subject was discussed previously. Indeed there is a way do to ATF flush on SkyActiv transmission. I think this dealer did what I intend to do as well, when I get time. They probably have modified a spare ATF cooler, so that instead of circulating ATF inside...

    Certified ‘15 CX5 Touring-Vibration?

I wonder if at any point they had to remove the prop shaft. It may be out of balance, either not installed into original position, or accidentally dropped on the floor. Happens all the time. May be ask them to check its balance?

low oil and rear diff leak on a used 2014 - risk assessment please

Oh, if they go that deep... prolly. 60k of pure neglect will show itself as heavy varnish or, depending on oil used, even sludge. Which is fixable, and will tell you a part of the story. I doubt there will be any flakes or shavings there. Look up the info on how to check transmission fluid...

low oil and rear diff leak on a used 2014 - risk assessment please

Have you driven it yet? For any amount of a good time? Is engine smooth both at idle and accelerating? Any ticking or knocking sounds? Anything unusual?

low oil and rear diff leak on a used 2014 - risk assessment please

I'd think this way. And if I'm wrong and it makes to 200k and going- good for you and exceptional value. I don't think I've read about blown Skyactiv engines yet. Except for aftermarket turbo attempts, but that's different story.

low oil and rear diff leak on a used 2014 - risk assessment please

I don't know what to tell you on the price side. I'm in Canada, things are bit different here. But if you bargain, don't be shy of your low- ball offer, provide your reasons and show that you're firm. Bet they know it would be a tough sell, and you sound like an educated purchaser who does their...

low oil and rear diff leak on a used 2014 - risk assessment please

Indeed. If the thing hasn't been driven with no oil for a while... The report said no oil on dipstick, not low oil...

low oil and rear diff leak on a used 2014 - risk assessment please

That's very true, but even after time passes, the oil sample might throw quite a bit of lead off. Sure sign of the limited bearings life...

CX5 Got hit today in the rear left

If the blind spot / cross-traffic sensors are damaged, this may be more involving then it looks.

low oil and rear diff leak on a used 2014 - risk assessment please

Absolutely. The main purpose of CEL is to make the driver aware of emission problems, and concerns related to that. Some cars have low oil level light and a sensor, but not CX-5, I don't think. Some reassurance might be had conducting the used oil analysis, however, it is relatively lengthy...

low oil and rear diff leak on a used 2014 - risk assessment please

No oil on dipstick would be my primary concern. At this point it is hard to predict ant possible damage to main bearings, etc. Differential leak would be secondary and minor, if the dealer determined that ring and pinion are good and the diff makes no whining noise. It comes under- filled from...

Advice Please: Dealer Scuffed the Paint on My CX-5

OP, sorry to hurt your feelings, forget it. I thought some common sense would prevail over the expectations of whatever customer-vendor relationships should be. I've never being anyone's buddy on this forum, by the way, nor a troll. I've just had being in business long enough to see a lose-lose...

Most likely he used brake clean. I doubt they'd have the bug and tar remover.

Advice Please: Dealer Scuffed the Paint on My CX-5

Yeah... The service advisor as a detailing expert. If I let anyone with qualifications unknown touch my car, I'd blame myself. His proper action should have been a suggestion to you to take the sap off yourself.
