2013~2016 Should I change transmission fluid in Skyactiv cars?

I love stories about state of the art equipment. Service advisors are the best at telling them, without a bit of knowledge on the subject. Unfortunately, many customers have to take that as a professional explanation.

    2013~2016 2014 CX-5 Transfer Case oil ooze

5yo car? Give it a break. It might not be oozing at all, since there's no consensus from two dealers and one independent. What's the recourse now, to sell it back? Dump it or set it on fire? Or just drive it until it shows something? I dunno, people are kinda quick to jump to conclusions on the...

    2013~2016 2014 CX-5 Transfer Case oil ooze

Don't kill yourself worrying. If the presumed leak is so insignificant that you have different opinions from three different places, then the thing is not going to explode on you. Enjoy it as it is, take care of the problem when and if it presents itself. Life is good.

2013~2016 Should I change transmission fluid in Skyactiv cars?

Ther's at least one aftermarket adapter available now for Skyactiv transmission flush. Not much different from what I managed to derive from the stock heat exchanger, but more civil. There's a slight possibility that this particular dealer has got up to speed and has ordered the adapter. But...

Used 2014 CX-5 GS AWD from Mazda dealership // Warranty advice

It really depends what it covers and how much it costs. You'll be tied to that particular dealer and their schedule for all maintenance for a while. Insurance value is proportional to your expectation of break-down, so this is very individual. If it helps you to sleep well, it's worth it.

Very faint high pitched "mosquito" sound

They most likely will not. Air guns and ratchets damage high-pitch hearing very quickly. I have not met a mechanic yet who can clearly hear high frequency sounds well.

    CEL and power loss

ShopkeyPro gives different code definition, Hydraulic variable valve timing control system: over-advanced. Too bad they did not read pending codes, this would help a lot. I'd pull the engine cover and check oil control valve at the back, passenger side, on top of engine. If it is leaking or the...

    2018 CX-5 Low Speed Transmission Hesitation/Jerk/Lurch

Our '15 never does this. Perhaps, they have modified the torque converter lock disengagement criteria to make it even more strict. Remember, SkyActiv transmission is much closer to the manual unit then to your average slush box. It unlocks torque converter very reluctantly in any gear, making it...

DIY Heater core replacement? 2013 CX-5

Call me old, but I can't find the evidence of such valve existence. Do you have a diagram, or a verbal explanation of its location?

DIY Heater core replacement? 2013 CX-5

Wonder what is the core blocked with. Sediment from the coolant? Look into the vacuum coolant system refill. Relatively inexpensive device, works every time with no air lock. Many shops have that too. Reduces time and headache.

    Paint or replace?

Keep in mind, with panel replacement they may introduce uneven gaps. I'd still go for it, being on top of them.
