True, but they don't want to be dishing out loads of money to repair rust. Repairing rust is very costly and the total benefits of cheapening out on paint and sheet metal (example of 1st gen 3) won't over-weigh the cost of fixing ~15% of the cars and building a bad reputation.

Update: So I finally found some time to install them this long weekend. As mentioned by others, one side was an absolute PITA though it was my passenger side (not driver as mentioned above). It took 2 hours to finish one side and the rest of the day + 2 hours of the next day for the PITA side...

That's the steering column. I have trouble understanding why its rusting; its a painted surface and it doesn't really come in contact with any water or salt. It is just surface rust so I don't think its much of an issue, but you can mention it to your dealer next time you see them or grease it...

Nice review! Your salesman is wrong. The clutch is hydraulic, drive by wire is a completely different system. I think Bosch is working on this tech though.

The new 3's are completely different than the 1st Gen 3 or Protege. Those rusted quite badly as either paint quality was bad, fender design was prone to rust, or sheet metal was bellow par quality. With the new 3's, I can't see why they would rust any quicker or slower than any other Japanese...

They looked like dust masks, which if its the case, do nothing for breathing in harmful chemicals (if any are present).

I'd be surprised if the 6 has a gas cap light. CEL is normal for this type of issue.

I really don't care about this feature. Happy that Mazda does it this way as I'd hate to have a TPMS light on when my winter tires are on. I also wouldn't want to replace sensors when they go, which I hear is fairly common for other manufacturers.

I think the Forte does have heated rear seats, cooled/heated front seats, heated steering wheel, and electric foldable mirrors. Probably some other few things that I really don't care too much about.

Wait what?? You are kidding about the airbags not working when changing tires?
