    So long, Honda. Hello, Mazda!

What did they give you for the trade it? Someone can get a good deal on that CX-5.

    Possible AC drain clogged?

Maybe he is thinking heater core, not AC. I would only chemically flush the heating core if it partially clogged up.

    Possible AC drain clogged?

Don't chemical flush your AC! Ever.

    FB Marketplace SD Nav Card

I paid $65 for mine at the end of 2018. It is mostly good for looking at the map and to Go Home. Trying to enter destinations on it is 2002 technology.

    Synthetic Oil, oil change interval

I will go from twice a year to 3 changes a year, because I do go on short rides a couple times a week. The oil from my 6 month change was so black. I've been waiting for oil to go on sale at Walmart but it doesn't look like the oil I use will be going on sale. Last year it was on sale by July 25th.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I heat the used one for about 2 seconds with a torch and drop it in water to make it softer, then sand on a flat surface with fine sandpaper. If it is flat and I see no marring I put it in the Reuse bag. Most people won't bother to do 5 dollars worth of work to save a quarter but I don't mind...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

They are not OEM, but the same size. If I put my original OEM washer in with the 20, you wouldn't be able to pick it out from the group. And that is an incredible mark up in price. The one review by Compelled to Write a Review is me.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

A couple years ago I bought these Crush Washers. They were only $4.99 for 20 at the time. $8.99 is still a good price and it may be enough for the lifetime of the car. I can recondition them and use them more than once.

Dangerous cylinder deactivation trouble on 2018 CX-5 and Mazda6 models

Looks like they shot the parts cannon at ferro_sk's car.

2018 CX-5: P0455, Clear Liquid Leak at Front of Vehicle, Battery Drained

    SkyActiv Oil Analysis Thread

That is a lot of issues for 18K miles. On the positive side your engine is in great shape based on the oil analysis report. No fuel or antifreeze in the oil.

    Cylinder Deactivation Questions

I think CD will kick in even at 75mph if you don't need to give it much gas, such as when going down an incline. The car will never try to accelerate or fight a head wind with two cylinders, CD is for almost no load driving.

What did you pay for your CX-5?

Throw those books out the window in today's market. He might sell your 2019 CX-9 for almost 40K. Case in point: 2019 Mazda CX-9 - Carvana

    CX-5 Oil Filter Question

I cut open and take apart the Thai filter every time I change the oil. The top and bottom 'piece' is actually a tough glue, maybe it is epoxy, that completely seals the pleats. It is impossible for oil to flow around the filtering media into the top of the pleats. The filtering material works...

    Anti-tamper or stripped drain plug?

Six quarts would put it almost a quarter inch above the fill line mark. I put in 5.45 quarts with filter replacement to get it to the full line. I would use OEM oil filters.

What did you pay for your CX-5?

If you are shopping for both models, the dealer will know you have 30,000 dollars to spend on the CX-5 so he knows you can afford the Mazda 6 and might leverage that. I would work on only one model at a time, the one you want the most.

    2018 CX-5 Low Speed Transmission Hesitation/Jerk/Lurch

My guess is that the program update has the clutch slip more at low speed, opposed to grabbing tight.

Transmission fluid change without filter replacement

Yes be super careful scraping the surfaces and take a ton of time with surface prep. It is the best chance to get a leak free job. When I was cleaning surfaces for a different project I sharpened popsicle sticks on the grinder, and used them to scrape residue from glued on gaskets. You need a...
