The 84-87 cars had the same suspension and frame with different powertrains. The 84's were Iron Duke 4 cylinders and had a reputation for catching fire. It was a problem with a wiring harness that was corrected. The 84 was the year it paced Indy and you can still find pace car versions in decent...

The Mitsubishi Evo X Concept Redefines Cornering

I don't think people make as big a hoopla about autox or road racing on the internet because videos of a car lapping (unless you're talking an extremely fast race car) aren't as exciting as a drag race. If you live your life on streetfire.net you might think everyone only cares about drag...

The Mitsubishi Evo X Concept Redefines Cornering

spacemonkey - I see a lot of EVO's out at autox and open track events and they do really well. It all depends on who you hang around as to what you'll hear. There are a lot of people in the US interested in the handling of the EVO. As far as the engine, you need to look no farther then the new...

    16x8 Rota slipstreams are here!

True, but I've run against Billy Brooks and Jason Wong on many occasions. In private autocrosses at school, local events, and national events. My car was getting closer, but their car is on another level that I feel an MSP will have a hard time achieving. Billy finished 5th at nationals last year.

GM Sells Finance Arm for $14 Billion

Well there would still be price competiton because Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai/Kia, etc. produce cars in the US. The UAW would still have to make concessions in order for the American companies to compete. What tariffs would mainly do is prevent a large number of blue collar jobs from being...

GM Sells Finance Arm for $14 Billion

While I agree that the union needs to be dissolved, I don't think you will see that happen. It's too deeply engrained with the workers and there are no laws that state people can't form unions. Every few years the UAW trys to get into other plants, like Honda, but the workers always vote it...

    16x8 Rota slipstreams are here!

What coilovers are you using? What tires? Honestly, you may do well locally, but the WRX's will kill you in a National level event. (just giving you a heads up). My car was getting there, but it still couldn't hang. Was going to take more money then I was willing to spend.

Hybrids Require MORE Energy Than Normal Car

Yes, in the form of biodiesel or ethanol. But electricity isn't a renewable resource when you're using coal to generate it. Not to mention the huge energy losses when you distribute it over powe lines.

GM Sells Finance Arm for $14 Billion

No, I'm not saying the government should dictate what people buy, or what a company produces. I am saying that the government should tax auto imports (or maybe some componentry) harder then they currently do in order to make the American worker something that is fiscally viable. This is what the...

Hybrids Require MORE Energy Than Normal Car

Electric cars never took off (and don't have a chance to) because to create electricty most power plants (in the US) burn coal. Burning more coal to make the electricity for these "clean" cars pollutes the environment even more, while still consuming a non-renewable natural resource. At least...

    Hardtop racing Solstice

It's a Showroom Stock B racer (SSB) so it has stock suspension. It appears higher then stock because they have smaller aspect ratio tires on it. (Adds almost an inch of wheel-fender gap.)

GM Sells Finance Arm for $14 Billion

Yes, and as you said, they are in right-to-work states where they don't have to deal with the UAW. On top of that, they pay their workers LESS then what the last offer Delphi offered the UAW in its last proposal. This proposal was rejected without even sending it to the workers for vote. Unions...

GM Sells Finance Arm for $14 Billion

NVP5White - GM is not the only company moving to China. Pretty much ALL manufacturing is going that way. Every car maker has a plant there, as well as many other manufactured goods that used to be made in North America. It is a major problem right now and stands to hurt the American economy...

Big Power, Small Package New GM engine for Pontiac Solstice GXP, Sky promises impress

The article wasn't written by GM, it's some idiot at AutoWeek. FWIW, GM was using turbo's a long time ago (Grand National, Sunbird, original GTP Grand Prix...) so it's not like they're 'just discovering the technology.' The nice thing about the GXP engine is it's completely flat torque curve...

GM Sells Finance Arm for $14 Billion

While it was the most profitable subsidiary they control, the market giving GM 'junk bond' status has hurt their credit rating. Kind of hard to hand out loans when you can't get a decent interest rate. They only sold 51% of it so they will still make money on any future profits of the division.
