you probably wont see any noticeable difference in fuel consumption in which ever way you choose to drive.
The reason you cant coast as long for in gear ,as you probably already now, is engine braking. Since its cutting(no fuel energy) the engine is using the cars kinetic energy to run.
if...
you should be able to get the philips screw driver in there no problem. the problem is if it strips the head of the screw.
you can also just take off the solenoid, its a small trox drive with a hole in the middle i forget the size though.
if you do this rather then removing the entire assembly...
Typically it's idle control valve that gummed up if you are having issue. Remove it clean it with a carb/throttle body cleaner and reset the ecu. It'll idle funny for a while but that's just the ecu adjusting it self.
There is a throttle body adjustment screw on the top of throttle body, but...
Haltch allows you to raise the rev limiter as high as you want it's capability is mainly limited by how accurate the trigger and home sensors are rather then the ecu it self.
Our cars have solid lifters so valve tapping is normal even a rebuilt just reshimed engine will have some valve tapping. Obviously if the sound is super loud there is something wrong. Some people recommend doing sea foam flushes regularly to keep the oil galleys as clean as possible to minimize...
i probably spent some where in the ball park of 1500 on the short block alone. i was only able to do it that cheap because i spent around 6-8 months looking for everything trying to find the best deals and new open box parts. I also do all my own work (apart from machine work and welding) so...
If you're looking to run that much boost:
Built forged engine
A good EMS like haltech, along with other goodies like fuel injectors, sensors, fuel pump....
as long as the 626 from the last generation(FS9) the long block is the same.
Im running a 626 head i pulled from the junk yard. I left the cams and sprokets at the junk yard and it was more then a year a go so i can't remember if the cams are the same.
give these guys a call http://www.pickapartva.com/ wheeler is your best bet. but i dunno how much theyll charge you if they pull it.
If you pull it out your self you can save alot of money. When i go there they always have at lest 4-5 decent condition possible donor(626 or protege) cars in the...
i dunno if itll do any help, but if i ever hear any strange knocking noise first thing i do is check the oil level and when/how many miles its been since it was last changed.
My injectors are RC# SH4-750. The work perfectly but with some modifications. They are taller then stock injectors longer screws are needed. Youll also need to double up on O-rings at the top. And obviously youll need connectors too.
With the platinum series ecu it gives you the option of...
Look into RC injectors, they're popular with the honda guys so they can be picked up used dirt cheap. i picked my set of RC 750cc for $120 locally.
I didnt have any issue getting it to idle properly with these.
