There is a vacant, threaded grounding point in the lower right corner.

This is a 1/2 inch round head bolt that I picked up from HD a few days ago. A longer one would probably work for the two points on the engine. The ring connector is flush against the underside of the bracket. Here I was able to secure the nut with a 10mm socket while tightening the top.

I can't really get both hands in the space between the firewall and the engine. These terminal bolts, if inserted square head up, the stud would almost touch the exhaust shield, and I can't hold the nut securely in that position. Need to check HD again for something that works better.

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

Got three wires now, two from the cylinder head (using existing holes) and one from the 5th bolt on the throttle body. Read somewhere else about folks grounding from the coil packs, but the bolts on my coil packs seem to be fasteners only... Further reading indicates that there are different...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

Absolutely! It's just that I prefer tinkering over reading or analyzing. Once I get the cables in, I will report back and see what adjustment, if any, is needed. My parts shelf is filled with additives and snake oil, while other folks keep mostly *cough cough* beauty products in their cabinets. 😁

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

I belong to the snake oil camp. ☺️ While searching for grounding kits, the product reviews reveal positive feedback when installed on a wide range of vehicles. Nothing backed by scientific analysis though, just simple user observations.

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

As a noob with short attention span, I have skimmed through the lengthy discussion and charts while trying with items on hand. Folks can get very technical here and the info can be hard to digest. We need cables with ring ends that are 2 to 3 ft long. A basic kit on Amazon is $14 (5 cables...

    5w20 or 5w30?

The OP has a 2010 CX-7 2.5. The owner's manual says use 5w20 for the 2.5 ltr engine, and 5w30 for the 2.3 ltr engine. If 5w20 is not available for the 2.5 ltr engine, then 5w30 is ok. Good to know that newer engines can accommodate a wider range of oils.

    5w20 or 5w30?

For BMW/MINIs where the recommended weight is 5w30, folks go up to 5w40 by the same rationale as we choose 5w30 over 0w20. I remember not noticing any difference with 5w40 on my NA R56. Folks with turbos/superchargers seemed to prefer 5w40.

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

2017 CX-3 NA. The factory ground wire (from head to chassis) is on the passenger side. There are mounting brackets on both strut towers. The photo in the last post shows the driver side of the engine. Considering my level of knowledge/skills, I will stay away from essential bolts that need to...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

Thanks! I have a better idea now what points to ground and what length of cable to use. Will order a generic grounding kit from Amazon. Are these bolts good points to ground? This is on the driver side of the bay. For the hole on the back of the engine, I use a battery terminal bolt [square...
