    Maf question

I've successfully used air meters from the first gen Proteges (and 323s).

    Used Engines from Japan

The Japanese engines are identical to those found here in the US. Furthermore, there are lots of already pulled engines available across the country for very reasonable prices. Check your local Craigslist, car-part.com, eBay, etc.

    ChumpCar MX3 Build

Excellent! Best of luck to you and your team. We've run an MX3 at 3 Lemons races with huge success (including a 1st and 2nd place finishes). We'll be back out on track battling again this coming weekend. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/tag/1994-mazda-mx-3/

    Standard right hand thread.

92 Miata: spark, fuel, no start. Please tell me why.

Yes, and it will be if the notch on your crank pulley is lined up with the arrow on the oil pump.

Scary sight in my overflow tank!!!

I've seen some nasty OF tanks. Water will sometimes stagnate in there and build up all sorts of goo. I wouldn't assume it's oil off the bat. Clean the tank a few times and keep an eye on it. Remove it, toss in a bit of crushed ice and clorox and shake it up as if it were a mixed drink...

92 Miata: spark, fuel, no start. Please tell me why.

If you have fuel and spark, then you probably have the timing belt installed incorrectly since that has to come off to get to the pump. Observe the marks on the cam gears and crank gear as seen in the pic below. Also, there should be 19 teeth on the t-belt between the two upper marks of the...

    D Prepared Miata Build

The main engine/lighting harness alone is 17 lbs and change. That doesn't include the sound deadening, air intake piping, air meter, computer bracketry, air bag modules, dash harness, rear lighting harness, and a host of other things that were removed. The new harness that is going in is no...

    Thinking about....

With the money spent on that swap, the headaches it will present, and the results present have in the end, I would opt for an all out turbocharged 01+ engine or simply a LS6 V8.

    Question. Stock bypass valve.

If you're going to drive the car, be easy on it. First off, you'll have a vacuum leak. Secondly, under boost conditions, you'll be inducing compressor surge which, if uncorrected after a while, can damage the turbocharger.

    24 Hours of LeMons - '94 Mazda MX3

Late update....I'm still recovering :). We had an amazing and quite unexpected performance at last weekend's LeMons event at CMP. We finished 6th overall, one lap from 5th, 6 from 4th, and 28 from the lead. We dug ourselves into a hole Saturday with long pit times consisting of 8 and 9...

How to tell a whether a 02 miata LS is 5 speed or 6 speed?

Call Mazda NA and provide them the VIN. They'll be able to list what options were furnished with the car.

    Stand alone engine mangmnt. question

Megasquirt without a doubt. Inexpensive, reliable, and a huge support base. I'm pushing 20k miles on mine in my Miata.

    24 Hours of LeMons - '94 Mazda MX3

Do it! Assemble a team a friends, find the cheapest, most craptastic car you can find on Craigslist, install a cage, and go racing. It's as simple as that and really is what LeMons is about. We've usually failed pretty miserably in that department, hehe. A friend's home made whiskey made...

    24 Hours of LeMons - '94 Mazda MX3

Why not? The plastic beneath was quite yellow anyway. I'll be drilling large holes in them this weekend for brake ducting also.

    24 Hours of LeMons - '94 Mazda MX3

The ToDo list is getting shorter and shorter. At this time, if I were to install the seat, steering wheel, wheels, and dial in the suspension, the car would be raceable. Electrical is done, the brakes are done (Carbotech XP10 in the front and Hawk HP+ in the rear), etc. This weekend, I'll be...

    2010 SCCA Solo National Championships

Congrats to the trophy winners!! I, however, drove with complete cranial rectal inversion (embarrassingly so). Every year at nationals, I choke hard core....can't quite figure out the mental game, hehe. Anyway, I had a blast nonetheless. The Atlanta compound rocked and hope some of you...
