    Temperature Gauge 2016 CX-5

If it is that large of a concern, you can always add a digital or mechanical gauge. Easy to add with an inline radiator hose sending adapter.

    Ho Alternator

Upgrading the power and ground connections in the vehicle. (usually with 8 awg wire or larger) 1. Fused wire direct from the alternator output to battery positive terminal. 2. Ground from battery direct to chassis 3. Ground from chassis direct to engine block Often times you can make...

detector wiretap into homelink auto dimming mirror need help please

Run to an auto part store and buy a cheap voltmeter for a few bucks. You should never hook up wires without testing them. Wire colors are not always a good indicator as they can change in the vehicle depending on the build date and manufacturing plant.

    Dealer overfilled oil

Additionally this froth that is churned up can burn once it hits the cylinder walls. That's why you will sometimes see smoke coming out of the exhaust when the oil is over filled. Burning oil is always a good way to fowl up o2 sensors and cats over time as well.

    Ho Alternator

It might be a while before a bolt on one is available since these cars/motors are still pretty new. There are always options out there; depending on your budget. Some shops can re-wind the alternator to produce more amperage. Changing out the pulley is also an option. You can always get a...

    Mazda Mobile Start ?

I would wait to see what the initial cost is and what the subscription cost would be. If you add an aftermarket remote start, you can add the same features with DEI Smartstart, Compustar Drone, or a few other brands. Be interesting to see the cost difference. (They are all also a subscription...

    factory tint levels

We did 20% on the fronts. It is a bit darker than the factory rear tint, but the extra light coming in though the clear windshield makes it look like an almost exact match.

2013~2016 CX-5 Radio unit connector pinout

The main white 24 pin plug is what you have in the picture you linked. The pins are counted as opposed to labeled as Mazda does it. Not to bad to figure out.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Posted some more pictures on the LED lighting thread as well. Used a pin switch which provides the ground input when the glove box is opened and wired into the illumination wire behind the radio for power.

    The CX-5 LED Lighting Thread

Finally took care of the lack of a glove box light. Minor annoyance. Especially since I've had 80's and 90's crap boxes that had them. Go figure. Used a pin switch to trigger the light. Close up of the light mounted before wiring. Crazy part is that it looks like the car is prepped for...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Simple mod, for a simple feature that I can't believe doesn't come standard on the car: Glove Box Light

    Remove Driver's Side Lower Panel

I believe that you need to remove the center console like most mazdas to be able to completely remove the under dash. I was able to install ours by just loosening the left side and removing the steering column shroud.

    c/s crankshaft pulley

I haven't checked what the factory pulley looks like, but many factory ones have thick rubber inserts to help quell vibrations. It's not really a question of the quality of their machined aftermarket part, but that you are removing a factory component that helps the longevity of the engine and...

XM radio as an add on in 2016 CX-5 Touring with Bose

Interesting. Wonder if the kit for the Mazda 3 with the same radio would work. Also, if you already have a Sirius/XM account you could upgrade it to use the app on your phone. Cheaper than adding another full subscription to another tuner. (assuming you don't over-use your cell phone data plan)

    c/s crankshaft pulley

This. Most factory crank pulleys have "harmonic dampers" on them that help protect the crank shaft and various other moving parts of the engine that come into play with it's movement. IMO the risks out weigh the minimal gains from swapping it out.

Is there a way to test the AWD function? Mine may not be working properly.

Another one (still an ad for subaru) Although testing older cars, it pretty much takes the tires out of the equation by just using rollers and not a slippery surface. Also good that it gives a better explanation of how things work.

Is there a way to test the AWD function? Mine may not be working properly.

True, but I think it is a good enough comparison to show the vehicle with original equipment as you would purchase it from the dealer. Not many people would immediately change the tires or add another set of wheels/tires unless they lived in a climate that needed it.

Is there a way to test the AWD function? Mine may not be working properly.

This. Haldex is decent enough for most drivers/situations but doesn't hold a match to some of the AWD systems from Audi, Subaru, and Acura to name a few. I do have a gripe with this in vehicle advertising. It is very hard to get the true details of how the cars AWD system is setup and what...

2013~2016 CX-5 Radio unit connector pinout

Sorry this is a bit hard to read, just copied over from the tech sheet. (also note this is based off of USA vehicles so it might be different for your region) Written as: Wire - Polarity - location Radio 12V white/blue + radio, white 24 pin plug, pin 14 Radio Ground black - radio, white 24...

    Sport model factory radio option

Unfortunately I'm not so sure it will be as simple as a plug and play swap. The main radio wiring harness may be the same between the base radio and the non-Bose infotainment. But there are additional harnesses and units in those vehicles that won't be in the base model. For instance, the usb...
