    Homelink Question

Those gentek mirrors all wire up pretty much the same. Constant 12 volt, ignition, and ground are the only connections. (which are usually tapped at the fuse box on the drivers side) You could try and disconnect the constant power wire to see if it is necessary to retain the homelink memory. If...

    alarm on the 2016?

Immobilizer is standard on all models. The alarm I believe it is still included on some models. Maybe only the GT? Aftermarket remote start guides reference wiring into the factory alarm to disable it during the remote start sequence. There is just no clear answer as to if the car has it or...

2016 Mazda CX-5 - What do you not like?

It's just the normal life cycle of most vehicles. Every year there might be minor cosmetic updates. Usually after 2-3 years there will be a mid cycle refresh, with a "complete redesign" every 6-7 years. Sometimes this is longer, especially on trucks and some SUVs. Eventually you will have to...

    Chris_Top_Her Build Thread 2

Usually on multilink rear suspension, there won't be adjustment from a coilover kit. You can use eccentric bolts/bushings on the rear control arms (sometimes called lateral arms) for some adjustment. If more is needed that control arm will need to be replaced with an aftermarket one that has...

Is there a way to test the AWD function? Mine may not be working properly.

I forgot how this thread got off topic long ago haha. We purchased a CX-5 and it fits our needs. It's the wife's daily driver and it's good to know that in inclement weather it is fully capable of getting from point A to point B. If the weather gets so treacherous outside, we won't be driving...

Is there a way to test the AWD function? Mine may not be working properly.

Why exactly would each manufacturers AWD system be optimized for different real world conditions? All of these vehicles are globally sold. You don't hear them saying ours is great in wet conditions, but not snowy or icy. Don't drive up inclines in our AWD! Watch the second video I linked...

    CX-5 Grille Change

Saw a 15' and a 16' side by side on a dealer lot that I was working at yesterday. Should have snapped a few pics. From a glance next to each other, they look like they would swap. The hood line and bumper opening appear the same. I didn't have keys to the vehicles to pop the hoods and take a...

2016 Mazda CX-5 - What do you not like?

Nope, just showing an image of the CX-3 concept at the show. If you google image search the LA auto show 2016 CX-5 it is identical (as far as I can tell) to the production model. Agreed.

2016 Mazda CX-5 - What do you not like?

Not to try to start an argument here, but I think the writer of the article is getting the CX-5 and the CX-3 confused. He/she referred to the vehicle that Mazda brought to the LA auto show having a screen mounted on top of the dash. The CX-5 at the show was essentially a pre-production 2016...

    Fuel Injector Cleaning Service on 2014 CX-5 2.5L SkyActive-G

Yeah this is definitely a problem with some DI engines. My wife's 07 GTI began to get random miss fires at around 70k miles. Changed plugs, changed coil packs and it wouldn't solve the issue. Turns out the intake valves were severely gunked up with carbon build up. That 2.0 FSI engine is...

2016 Mazda CX-5 - What do you not like?

I would be surprised if there would be any change next year to the dash config. The 2016 MY is a mid life refresh for the car. Any other big changes (especially a complete dash redesign) isn't going to happen for another 2-3 years. And once it hits that age, it will be the "all new" CX-5 with...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I think it is something that can be repaired with a good claybar, wax, and then polish after removal to blend. The films allow UV through but they aren't allowing wear and tear to the clear coat that the rest of the body is getting.

2016 Mazda Connect Head Unit pinout?

Yeah I should have clarified that you won't find RCA only. Many amplified systems use low level out from the radio which then feeds into an amp. (Although many new cars are shifting toward using digital signals now).

2016 Mazda Connect Head Unit pinout?

You are never going to find RCA - low level outputs out of the back of a factory radio. (except for some random "upgraded" factory radios in cars in the 90's) You will have to use a line output converter, or use the high level inputs on the amp. (if available) That being said, I haven't pulled...

    Temperature Gauge 2016 CX-5

Yeah up to the 2007 MY they had a little triple pod that could be added to the dash to replace the clock pod. Some higher end sportier vehicles still offer "gauge" information through the infotainment screen. New corvette, Viper, higher line Charger and Challenger for example. It really would...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Yeah now that you say that, I remember on my WRX, the brake and clutch pedals had rubber that stuck out, the accelerator had rubber as well, but it didn't protrude past the aluminium. Just had to google search an image to verify.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I think he may be referring to the aftermarket pedals not the OEM mazda ones? I've been shopping both myself. It is a little weird how the OEM ones only have the rubber on the brake pedal.

    Temperature Gauge 2016 CX-5

Using a coolant hose tap was just a reference to how easy it is to install a gauge. Obviously mounting the sending unit to the block will provide more accurate results. In either case, it is still more effective than a "dummy" light so that if something is wrong or is going wrong, you have much...

    The CX-5 LED Lighting Thread

Ground is from the pin switch. It is mounted into the metal brace behind the glove box. Hole was already in the metal, just had to drill out the piece of plastic there. Power was sourced from the illumination wire at the main power connector behind the radio. Pin 15, yellow/green wire. This...

    The CX-5 LED Lighting Thread

Didn't really think about it while I was doing the install. Should have probably taken more pictures of the process.
