    Smelling Windshield Wiper Fluid

Funny you mention that, I really liked the smell of vw washer fluid as well. This one smells exactly the same and is what I use. It's German made, so it might be the factory fill of German made vdubs. Available at Amazon for around $12 and makes 7-12 gallons. Also, this is for warm weather use...

A year later, still averaging 20 MPG on 2018 GT AWD Mazda CX-5. Is that normal?

This is exactly what I was about to say. I bet he/she is going off computer estimate which might be low with mostly city driving.

    2019 Floor Mats?

I think the Maxpiders are about $150 for front and rear set, and the nice OEM all weather from Canada are about $240 for front and rear set. Not sure if the Maxpiders go up the dead pedal as far, because it's hard to find any pics of them in an actual CX5. I have the ones from Canada and they...

    2017/18 Real World MPG

Fuelly.com is pretty consistent for all year models from 2014-2018 at around 25.5 for combined city/highway MPG. Probably +1 for FWD and -1 for AWD on that number. New turbos will probably be around 21-22 combined but worth it in my opinion.

just bought a 2018 cx-5 what do I need to search for? I want what the cool kids have!

Yes, for the all weather mats anyway. But they cost twice as much. US CANADA

    Lane Departure Warning Distance

I drive mostly interstate and the damn thing was beeping all the time when passing and using the blinker to get back in the right lane. I could see the entire front of the car in the rear view and it would still go off. It's a shame it can't be adjusted to driver style/preferences, but I had to...

Does anyone use conventional oil in their newer CX-5?

I fill to max level when doing an oil change. After about 4500 miles I normally add about 1/4 quart to get back to the max level and it is still there when I change at 7500. If that makes sense, lol.

Does anyone use conventional oil in their newer CX-5?

I'm right at 40K on my '17 and usually need to add 1/4 quart or so between 7500 mile changes but every engine and driving conditions will be a little different.

2017~2025 Factory/OEM Windshield Label Image (solved!)

Yes that helps, thanks for posting that link. Did you have them order new reveal molding for the top (part 10 on the link) and lower weather strip (part 2 on the link) or were they able to reuse the original molding?

    2019 XC40 vs 2019 CX-5 Signature

I get what you are saying, but I would not pay $10K more for this interior on the XC40 compared to the CX5. I would want to pay less. But this XC40 is actually only about $8K more expensive than a CX5 Sig. It is also so much smaller, that most wouldn't cross-shop the 2, but it is just as fast as...

Caution - Piano Black Trim Pieces

Did they actually say that, lol? I would agree. Polish and a good coat of wax will get rid of it, but they do scratch ridiculously easily. The inside black trim on the doors and center console scratches too easily as well. I was hoping for different trim material (maybe matte black) on the new...

    Fast glance identification

They are both shaped very similar so sometimes it's hard to tell quickly, especially from rear angles, and I've owned both gen 1 and gen 2. I would say the headlights give it away to me on the newer models first, however, every piece of sheet metal, plastic, glass is different on gen 1 and gen...

    Break-in/first oil change on 2.5T

I used an extractor for top-side oil changes on my VW diesels because the canister oil filter was also on top, so no need to get underneath. You have to get under the CX5 to get at the filter, and the drain plug is right there, so no real advantage to extract the old oil from the top in my opinion.

Car and Driver 2019 CX5 article.

I think they want to compare the new CX5 to the smaller crossovers from premium brands because the MSRP is closer on these, even though the loaded XC40 is $45K. Loaded X1 will be $42K, loaded GLA will be $50K. Passenger Volume RDX 105 cu ft CX5 102 cu ft Q5 102 cu ft XC60 100 cu ft X3 99 cu ft...

Car and Driver 2019 CX5 article.

Agreed, if you ignore 1-2 key people, the whole vibe of this forum changes. But people will still quote them at times so you know they are still there, raging in the background. But to your point, the X1, XC40 and GLA (all subcompact class) are not the same size vehicle as the CX5. The CX5...

Car and Driver 2019 CX5 article.

So true, but I can't see Mazda dropping a 350-400 HP turbo V6 into a CX5, which they would need to do to compete with AMG GLC, SQ5, or X3M. But maybe they will and sell it for $50K and be about $20K under the competition again. RSQ5 would be another power level up.
