Finished the Wang install. Trimmed the trunk and got everything bolted back together. About all I need to do is grab some touch-up paint and clean up the bits I hat to cut to clear the uprights. I gave this no chance of actually working while cutting, but pulling the straps tight kept the trunk...

Back to the engine: got the oiling & timing system buttoned up for the time being. It looks pretty scabby on the outside (despite my best efforts to clean it...this engine needs a hot tank BADLY), but it's clean of oil and grease, and all the important bits were cleaned up and installed with new...

Sort of like a diff or trans fill where the top plug is essentially the 'high water mark'. With the aftermarket pan, the stock dipstick doesn't really mean much anymore, so that's the 'full' mark.

Finally starting to move in the right direction of putting stuff ONTO the motor vs taking stuff off. Water pump housing and oil pan are on.

Picked up the Nine Lives Racing Big Wang this morning. Still waiting on the 2nd elements to come back in stock, but once they do that'll go on as well :D

Not KMiata content as much as XP content, but these are currently being CNC'd :D

I can't speak for everyone, obviously, but I'd say 6/10 of my racing friends are IT or engineering professionals. Probably 2/10 are in the medical fields.

Thanks guys. If anything, my story is one that shows any schmoe can do this stuff, and hopefully not let other schmoes be as intimidated by big projects. I'm an IT guy, this stuff is way outside my wheelhouse, but there's a TON of info out there for folks to learn from <3

Got the engine torn down as far as I need to: Including the mahoosive oil-pump & counter-balance shaft assembly. That thing is...not light. Now to spend a lot of quality time cleaning HondaBond and oil off of parts and reassembling things.

Finally broke the seal on the motor. And despite having drained it, completely I thought, after first getting it... Maybe there was a bunch stored inside that massive oil pump, that after flipping it over a couple times for various reasons, broke free? I dunno, but I didn't think I needed...
