    2016 CX-9 Crossbars Install

I had the dealer put my OEM bars on and I did not get the tool to remove them which I want to do now while they are not in use. Is it a Torx 25 bit? It's very hard to get anything in there to even see if the fit is right. Is the tool they come with have some special angle to facilitate being...

    The perils of ethanol

Luckily here in Montana we have ethanol free premium (91 grade) just about everywhere so that is what I will be running from now on. Average MPG's for the first 4000 miles on premium with 10% ethanol was 22mpg combined. I'll see if there is a difference. I just wish the price difference was not...

1300 mile road trip/towing report for the CX-9 if any one is interested.

I just went with the class III because I have another vehicle with that set up and I feel it's more stout and why not? It definitely adds some weight to the vehicle. Install is not hard but I didn't have access to tools or ramps ( don't need but makes it far easier) so for another 70 bucks I...

1300 mile road trip/towing report for the CX-9 if any one is interested.

I bought the Kendon used. It's a 2001 but those things are solid. Torsion axle. I've never towed 2 bikes but with one that weighs about 600 lbs it's fine with this car. I had U-haul install the class 3 hitch ( It's a rebranded Curt ) and that was about $350.00 and I had to buy a longer ball...

1300 mile road trip/towing report for the CX-9 if any one is interested.

I just pulled in from a 1325 mile road trip from north Phoenix ,AZ to my home in Montana and thought I would share some stat's and thoughts if anybody wants to know about long haul towing with this sled. Ours is a 2018 GT AWD that now has 9200 miles. Payload was approximately 600 lbs ( 2...

Turbocharger information that was a bit alarming...

Thanks for the feedback. Color me naive on this one. Never heard of it and it sounds like its more of a possibility for damage that just a Mazda covering their ass. It also sounds like something that should have been improved to the point where it's a non -issue. And lastly it sounds like...

Turbocharger information that was a bit alarming...

Wow. I've owned 34 cars from Vega's to 911's and I've never heard of the practice. Many were turbo's. If it's true than that message needs t be a lot louder.

Turbocharger information that was a bit alarming...

So I've got my 2018 CX-9 GT AWD loaded up for the 1300 mile trip back to Montana and since I am towing a small trailer with a loaded top box (that should insure some good gas mileage...NOT). I thought I should crack out the owners manual to double check the GCWR and other load limits to be safe...

    2020 Refresh Speculation

I think you got it but I think most of that will be 2021 if it's a full new model. I like the grill the way it is better than the mesh style but thats just me. I don't think they will change the exterior much for 2020. Maybe new paint colors. They could add a charging pad and a few other things...

    New 2019 CX9 Loving it

Congrats and welcome. I traded on our 2016 CX-5 a few months ago for a 2018 CX-9 GT AWD ( machine gray) and it's really a great vehicle. I've had a bunch in my time and this for the money is right up there. Sure there are a few shortcomings and people like to shoot holes in it because it is not...

2016~2023 2018 CX-9's Engine Speed Surge Upon Cold Start

My 2018 rev's a bit higher for about 20 seconds if the motor is cold. Most cars do this. it's normal

    Chrome Delete?

My 2018 GT came with the additional factory chrome ( plastic) under the front and rear bumpers and I think it's a nice addition. I fact now when I see one without it looks naked to me. I'm not a big chrome fan but on this car it works and adds to a premium look.

    Stuff I did to my 2018 CX-9

Those rims look nice on the CX-9. I would think it would be hard to find aftermarket that don't look too gaudy but you found them. Can I asked about what you paid for them? I may do something similar. I've got 8k miles on my 2018 GT AWD Falkens and I will be replacing those with a much better...

    Daytime running lights dim/flickering

When I brought my 2016 CX-5 GT in a year ago with the headlight issue the woman who wrote it up said that I was not the first she had seen. I don't have that car anymore so I'm not sure of the build date. It was not a 2016.5. It was early in the model year. I'm just glad it happened under warranty.

    Should Mazda consider a 4 or 5 seater CX-9?

Interesting thanks. We will see what they do. It won't be until 2022 until we see anything new come off that plant in Alabama. That will be about the time my warranty will be up on my CX-9 and will be deciding whether it is a long term keeper or not. They will up their game even more and offer...

    Should Mazda consider a 4 or 5 seater CX-9?

What have you heard? The only reason for them to make a bigger CX-9 would be if they brought the CX-8 to North America and I heard that's a non-starter for Mazda. Maybe they change their mind and do it. As SUV crazy as America's and Canadians are I bet they would sell more than a few CX-8's.

16-17 owners ... what warranty work have you needed?

Amazing that something as simple as thicker floor mats can make a difference in sound but that is one of the things they did. Good thing the car comes with them. Maybe I'll buy some 2019 floor mats for my 2018 lol.. Good to see no responses yet as to needed warranty work.

    2019 CX-9 - list of design problems/complaints

Sure there are some shortcomings for anyone but the things that you cited would not be deal breakers for me. I'm 5'8" and have no issue finding multiple comfortable seating positions. I have a 2018 GT and apparently they added more range of motion with the front seats. No issue for me. On the...

    CX-9 2.5T drives better with 91 Octane

Interesting thanks. I'm not sure what percentage of the country carries 93 octane but I never see it anywhere in the intermountain west. Mostly 91 and occasionally 92 in Montana. So I'm going to go with 240 HP on 91 octane. I wonder why Mazda chose 93 octane as the measuring stick? Bigger power...
