    i-ACTIVE AWD not so Active

I have not had that much experience with the CX-9 as we only have had it 5 months and have only had it on a wet surface a couple of times. That said it's the same system that was on the previous CX-5 and it was not an issue really. It seems the rear was always engaged when it needed when it was...

    Review: CX-9 vs. Subaru Ascent

What do you guys think of the new Honda Ridgeline? I have a 2011 Tundra and I just don't need a half ton truck anymore. I'm not towing 10,000 lbs and hauling that much anymore but we do need a vehicle with an open bed and all wheel drive for our rural living. I'm not a huge fan of the new GM...

    Signature wood trim delete

My 2018 GT is black leather with a black headliner. Yes it is dark but to me looks clean and classy. The light leather on the GT looks good but for how long? I wish that were more of a car tan or they made the Napa brown an option on the GT. I am also not a fan of the wood. It's well done but...

    New (to us) 2016 CX-9

I went from a 2016 CX-5 to a 2018 CX-9 and it feels like a much more substantial vehicle and yes part of that is because it's heavier. The sound isolation and ride quality is far superior to the older version CX-5. Not sure how it compares to a current CX-5 but too me this drives more like a...

    Mazda developing staight-six engines

    Interesting thanks.

Saw a new Telluride on the road today.

I know they've been out for awhile but it takes time to see new cars in Montana. It was a black one, top trim level with racks on top. It looks smaller in person than I thought it would. Not a bad looking sled. If the CX-9 weren't so good this might have been the choice. The new Highlander is a...

    2017 windshield replacement

I had a similar situation with the 2016 CX-5 GT we had. I was told to have dealer check it and I did not. Everything was fine.

2nd Gen CX-9 High mileage club, how's it holding up?

I threw this question out a bit ago and had a few responses over 60-70k miles with no powertrain issues. The N/A version of this Skyactiv 2.5 had been basically bullet proof from what I read on the early CX-5's and others. Some of those are over 150k miles at this point. I think the carbon...

    2016 GT vs 2018/2019 GT

I'm only 5'8" and average build so I'm lucky the seats are great for me. I just tested them on a 3 day 1500 mile trip and I was never squirming. I can see how it could get tight for anyone over 6 feet though. It is very much a cockpit feel which I prefer. Mine is a late model 2018 so it has the...

    2020 Highlander vs 2nd generation CX-9

Apparently it does have a torque vectoring AWD set up. Not sure if that is new or not but that would go in the plus column.

    2020 Highlander vs 2nd generation CX-9

I went over to the Highlander forum to see what those folks are saying and it's not good. Not many like what they've done. Of course taken with grain of salt because many already own one but the over take away is negative. Of course everyone says get a Telluride or Palisade and the CX-9 gets...

    CX9 / CX5 Redesign?

I think this was a waste of their money and effort. Makes no financial sense and the diesel thing is kind of over in the US for better or worse. I'd be shocked if they sell many.

    2020 Highlander vs 2nd generation CX-9

I'm glad I did not hold out for this new Highlander and went ahead and got the CX-9. I think this is a total miss. The exterior styling is just odd to me. That line that runs from the lower door down and up and over the wheel well is not attractive and that rear end with what looks like dents...

    Gas mileage with/without rack?

I'm wondering the same thing . I only use the rack once a year on our long trip and think it looks better with the cross bars off but they are not that easy to remove unless you are a contortionist. I did not get the special tool to get to the screw's. I can't think it would affect it that much...

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Oil change at 9600 miles. Dealer said they did it when they listed the vehicle for sale at 5500 miles but who know's. I treated it to some Mobil 1 5w 30. I figure with this turbo 5k intervals might make sense. Rotated the OEM Falkens. I'm not a big fan of these tires and it looks like they will...

    So I compared a fully-loaded $65k QX60 to the $53k CX-9 Signature..

Interesting observations. I'm surprised Infinity put a CVT in their top end vehicles. That along is a total deal killer for me.

    2018 vs. 2019

I had the same choice a few months ago. I opted for a slightly used (5000 miles) 2018 over the new 2019. It was about an 8k difference in price and other than the vented seats and the folding mirrors I felt there was not enough of a difference. I had the dealer install the AA/Carplay as part of...

Advice on Mazda CX-9 front grill.

I'm going to guess that your version does not have the i-active sense stuff like auto cruise control/full stop and the other things that come with that. If you got the equivalent to our Signature trim then those features may not be legal there. Don't know.

    New CX-9 owner

I got a dealer used ( sold as "new") 2018 and part of the deal was they did the Apple Carplay retro fit at no additional charge. I would have paid for it as well. It is the single biggest thing that critics used agains this car so it's a no brainer to get it especially for resale. Plus once you...

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Wow those filters are pretty bad. How many and what type of miles if you don't mind me asking. My 2018 is less than a year old and 9000 miles but I guess it's time to check.
