Long Term Review - PowerStop Z17 Evolution Plus Ceramic Brake pads - 2nd Gen CX-9

Thanks for sharing your long term experience with the 2nd Gen CX-9. As for the rear brakes going out faster, my Mazda 3 also does this. From what I understand it is a tuning preference that Mazda does, supposedly by applying more force to the rear they achieve a more flatter braking...

    Mazda3 Life Expectancy

That's awesome stuff to hear, I recall growing up with father's friends talking about vehicles spanning from the late 1960's to the 1970's. I appreciate how the cars had thicker sheet metal, and the simplicity of the cars from that era in general. Here I am as a younger guy complaining about...

    Mazda3 Life Expectancy

That's nice to hear about your daughter's car, she's fortunate to have found one in decent shape from New York. Mazda's can certainly be well built, nice machines in general (it's why I'm here, I'm definitely a fan, they've built some amazing automobiles). And the MX-6 was an exceptional car...

    Mazda3 Life Expectancy

I was referring exclusively to the Mazda3, as every product was built differently, with different leadership, goals, budgets, etc... I knew a guy with a Ford Probe (essentially an MX6) who also did not have rusting issues in the Mid-Atlantic. So what may have been a non-issue in the MX6 may be...

    2021 CX-9 Signature 5000 mile impression & comparison with 2018 CX-9 Sig

The 2020+ CX-5 advertised that they added Bose's "Engine Harmonic Enhancement" a.k.a. fake engine noise playing through the speakers. I wouldn't be surprised if they did it with the CX-9 as well. The noise is relayed and so even if the sound system is on mute or off, it still plays through the...

    2016 CX-9 Signature leaking coolant

Having been involved in many large Engineering projects myself, I can say that there's a lot that goes on behind closed doors, :p, pressures and deadlines to release products on time despite some "defects" we'll say. What I can say is if you see some consistency in the outcomes, which I...

    2016 CX-9 Signature leaking coolant

This seems to be a reoccurring issue with the 2nd gen CX-9's, unfortunately... we can't say it's all of them, but more and more keep popping up, and Mazda seems to acknowledge this issue. The 2020(+..including 2021) had slight changes to the engine... slight bump in HP and Torque.. also a...

2nd Gen CX-9 High mileage club, how's it holding up?

Thanks for sharing your experience, as these 2nd gen cx-9's age we are seeing more and more of these "coolant leak" issues, followed by a full "engine replacement", hopefully it's still a more isolated issue rather than being common. It's fortunate that your problem showed up just before the...

    2013~2016 Timing Chain Failures?

Probably just marketing fluff, just like back in the day any German made product had "German Engineering" somewhere on the package as a wow/marketing factor. I even have a pencil eraser from years ago made in Germany that boasted, "German Engineering" on the package....for a friggin' rubber...

2nd Gen CX-9 High mileage club, how's it holding up?

There's also this post: https://www.mazdas247.com/forum/index.php?threads/2016-cx-9-loss-of-power.123861063/page-2 If you scroll to the bottom and see the post by AdzamOZ , he has pictures of cracks on the exhaust gate of the turbo, as well as some cracks for the dynamic pressure manifold. I...

    CX-9 2.5T Engine Replacement

The 2019 CX-9 had a specification of 250 HP/ 310 lbs ft. https://www.edmunds.com/mazda/cx-9/2019/features-specs/ When they released the 2020 CX-9 they had the press release on the slight power bump for the torque (gained +10, as I stated, and as posted on Mazda's site), I'd imagine it was...

2nd Gen CX-9 High mileage club, how's it holding up?

Update for reference. I see on this thread, started by Aviboy97: https://www.mazdas247.com/forum/index.php?threads/cx-9-2-5t-engine-replacement.123873681/ User adroitboy bought a used 2016 at 107,000 miles, with paper work showing that it had the engine replaced at 101k miles. That's the...

2020 CX-5, way to disable "Engine Harmonics Enhancer" (Fake Engine Noise)?

I personally do not consider this a deal breaker, however, I was curious to know if there was an option in the infotainment settings to disable it since it's a new feature for the 2020 and beyond. Personally, I think it would be nice to have the option to disable or enable it. I know the new...

    CX-9 2.5T Engine Replacement

That's why I was speculating perhaps in the 2020 MY when they added some more torque and "retuned" it, it was a quiet excuse to perhaps make the subtle change in the block and wherever else it needed it, but who knows. If the OP could get back to us and tell us his model year, just for reference.

    CX-9 2.5T Engine Replacement

Thanks for posting this. I can see now what you're saying now. https://www.mazdanyparts.com/oem-parts/mazda-cylinder-block-py8w10300a The "a" part number replaces the non-"a". Hopefully it addressed the issues we're starting to see in the original 2.5t.

    CX-9 2.5T Engine Replacement

They probably are aware of it by now, but they can't admit it otherwise users would outcry for a recall which would be too expensive, so they're doing the usual replace as it arises routine, which is fine. What is concerning is, even though it's just 5-10 posts on here, how many owners out there...

    CX-9 2.5T Engine Replacement

What year is your 2nd gen CX-9? I kind of wonder if they made any minor un-publicized fixes when they "retuned" the engine for the 2020 model and gave it a little more torque, hoping they did, but maybe they didn't. Another user (with a 2nd gen cx-9 2.5T) also had an engine replaced, mchu123...

Any Word on the 2020 CX-9 Changes?

Yeah I know, but all the dealer swaps would've been rather far, I prefer a fresh one. How many salesman I know who smoke and were told not to smoke inside, yet roll down the window while doing so, how many salesman I've known to eat in cars while driving to deliver a long distance dealer swap...

Any Word on the 2020 CX-9 Changes?

Nice find and congrats on your new CX-9. That's the exact setup that I'm looking for too, GT with the bench and preferably MG. In my area, at the time I looked( about a month ago), there were no GT's available with the bench in my area. It really frustrates me... I've vented on my thoughts about...
