    2017~2025 Finally I'm A 2018 Mazda CX-5 Owner

Awesome [emoji41]. Congrats. Show us how the DRLs look.

CX-5 Sales continue to set records

Toyota will sell regardless of whether it has the new engines or not because they are Toyota. I believe the average consumer is after fuel efficiency more so than outright power numbers on paper. The current Skyactiv engines already deliver excellent power and is certainly at the top end of the...

CX-5 Sales continue to set records

Excuse my oversight in the specific detail of the Skyactiv-X. Be it SPCCI or HCCI, it will be groundbreaking and exciting nonetheless. My point was about comparing a 7 year old Skyactiv engine to engines of its current time not suddenly comparing it to something that just came out yesterday...

CX-5 Sales continue to set records

Yes unfortunately his refusal to address ones certain rebuttals is the norm and you will see repetitive tables of comparison numbers. Everyone knows Toyotas thermal efficiency gains are basically Skyactiv 7 years late to the party. Admittedly Toyota has implemented its own version with its own...

CX-5 Sales continue to set records

The 2.5T from Mazda is definitely very mildly tuned. I have no doubts it is capable of much more power and torque but Mazda isn’t playing the numbers or high performance game. Also agree on the unfounded issues of cylinder deactivation. Haven’t heard of any issues of that on the VW Tiguan either.

CX-5 Sales continue to set records

Finally someone talking some sense. I dont know how the Mazda bashing began again and the topic moved to Toyota tech. Its silly suddenly trying to compare something brand new that is long overdue from Toyota and comparing it to Skyactiv-G which has been around for years now. The current Skyactiv...

CX-5 Sales continue to set records

The Mitsubishi is in the small SUV segment whereas CX-5 is midsize SUV. The Mitsi as they call it here is seen as the cheap and nasty product selling on price alone. CX-5 will still be top for the year always consistently in the top 2 in its segment. Rogue and Tucson will get the odd bumper...

    2017-2018 CX5 Touring Taillights

I'm not sure about that but I thought all the new gen CX-5 tail lights are LED with full signature style like the headlights. With all the models having LED headlights, I would imagine the tail lights would be LEDs also. What I do know is that the brake light is incandescent and isn't very visible.

    Drag race : Mazda Cx5 2016 vs 2018

I think that could be a mistake. I don't believe it has shift paddles here. It may not be the fastest nor the slowest but the CX-5 engine and transmission makes for a good combo.

    Drag race : Mazda Cx5 2016 vs 2018

It's true what you said that the 2017+ have narrowed the gap to the other appliances. The Kia is certainly not faster in any tests here in Oz at least. I guess I really need to start referencing the current gen CX-5 model in discussions despite owning the previous gen CX-5 myself :)

    Drag race : Mazda Cx5 2016 vs 2018

True. We shouldn't be comparing it to all other types of vehicles on the road, especially ones that are intended to be performance oriented. 0-60mph in the 8s is not bad. Not so long ago my V6 sedan could only do 0-60mph in 8 secs flat. In comparison with its direct competitors, the CX-5 is...

Mazda friends, need '17 CX-5 ammo to help to sway the wifey who wants Lexus NX200

Here is an old comparison article comparing the NX200T and CX-5. It's from 2015 but the current model of both vehicles still retain most of their qualities with other incremental improvements and some bigger improvements. For example, the interior of the CX-5 and road noise has improved...

CX-5 Sales continue to set records

Is there any official news from Mazda Australia that the 2018 update will be coming with cylinder deactivation? Good to see CX-5 still the no.1 SUV in Aus :)

    Pizza wheels no more

In terms of looks, yes 20"-21" pizza cutters would look good. I actually don't mind the pizza cutter wheels so much its just that from close up, they don't look 19" or big enough. Can anyone do photochop of pizza cutters on first-gen CX-5? ;) Considering them for spares. I think it could look...

    Pizza wheels no more

That would just make the ride rougher and not to mention more expensive tires, speedo inaccuracies etc. The wheel design / choice was not the best to begin with, especially the receded spoke design from the outer lip of the rim. The previous gen CX-5 19" wheels on the other hand, look huge on...
