Who thinks the MS3 needs a diet?

the hood would be a good choice. Coming from subarus with aluminum hoods, the steel hoods on these cars are INCREDIBLY heavy to me. Also, don't forget the battery. A small racing battery could shave as much as 20 lbs from the upper engine area. I don't really care about losing weight to make...

If you read the thread you will see they had made a typo. They sent me an ammended analysis report. Anyway, this is an old thread and I'm expecting my oil analysis report for the second oil change to be mailed in the next couple days.

the blue line appears to be showing a bit of boost creep and the ECU's subsequent action to reel it back in.

    Oil Analysis on my Mazdaspeed3

did my second oil change at 7882 Tuesday. Will post the Blackstone report when they email it to me. Oil level was perfect, no odd colors or smells, and just a little dirty looking. My subaru's oil was always black after 3000 miles.

    COBB SRI HP Loss

Well honestly when you consider the many variables at play, a dyno really isn't the best place to test this. Almost all dyno runs are performed with the hood open and a fan blowing towards the intercooler. This means an aftermarket intake like Cobb's is able to draw room temperature air and...

MS3 Loose Stabilizer Bar Nut - Clunks from the rear

the best way to permanently eliminate a nut from loosening while still allowing you to easily remove it is to use nordlock washers on it or to safety-wire it. Since safety-wire is not really feasible in this situation and nordlocks are easy to install, that's the best route...

Official Update re: Koni for MS3

So, I emailed Koni the other day asking when they'd have an approved application for Koni dampers on MS3 and they replied with this: and the application note on the website has been changed to reflect: Mazda 04-08 3 Sedan and Hatchback, incl Mazda Sport Susp & Mazda Speed 3 - Sport (Yellow)

Best way to soften the suspension?

Really the best option here is 17" wheels and a good UHP All Season tire.

MS3 stock Potenzas in the snow

even an AWD vehicle with LSDs at both ends and an LSD center will be utter crap on snow with summer tires. A low-clearance FWD car with summer tires is not even viable in snow. Winter tires or at the very least, good All Seasons.

2008.5 MS3 Stock Stereo Issues Thread

2008.5 MS3-GT with the Bose MP3 system I have a severe rattle/buzz on the front right door speaker on mine. It seems most prevalant on natural bass frequencies like a bass guitar or lower keys from a piano. So basically almost all good music it will buzz.

Do you guys torque your wheels?

I didn't use to use a torque wrench on my wheels but recently I started because it really doesn't take much extra effort. Anyway, regarding the tire pressure - 42 is way too high. If you REALLY want to figure out optimal pressures, you need a skidpad and a pyrometer. Drive around in a circle...

Bare with me, 17X8 bbs sti wheels, what would it take

Apparently not. The ones that were lightweight were the 04's which you cannot put on your car. The 05-up wheels were a good 3 lbs heavier and ALL the STI BBS wheels are forged.

    Any spring rates?

I don't mind specs in metric... since the rest of the world uses it and it is easily converted to english units but yeah, the whole 'percent stiffer' thing is retarded.

Bare with me, 17X8 bbs sti wheels, what would it take

The wheels from the "early" (2004) STi are 5x100 and 17.7.5. In other words, no good. In 2005 they went to the 5x114.3 and 17x8.

    Any spring rates?

that's a big negative. Just a completely inept response from an email drone that is used to answering basic questions about the car that could otherwise be found on the mazdausa website. I even requested they send my question on to a technical department that would be able to answer the...

Mazdaspeed Sport Spring install notes and driving impressions

Yes. However, I have used a LOT of different tires over the years and I feel that these are among the best summer tires (without going to the "extreme performance" category). I will most likely be going to RE01R or RE050A-PP on the new wheels though. I'm kind of thinking about 245/40R18 but...
