OK, I'm a failure! I did NOT replace the belt tensioner or belts today. I got all ready to decided to due the "take-off-the-right-front-tire-and-splash-shield" method. I did that and unfortunately, unlike the Mazda3 in the video, the belt tensioner in the CX-5 is in an almost impossible...

Since it doesn't sound like anyone's tensioner has actually failed completely, just leaked, what is everyone's opinion as to what would take place upon a complete failure? Just curious.

Maybe you could meet up with someone on here and do the one hour swap, perhaps for a six-pack as payment! I think it's already been noted that someone on here goes to the same dealership as you do. Just a thought.

The driving experience of the CX-5 is second to none in our category and price range. That said, based on your rather (no offense intended) boring daily drive, I'm not quite certain that you'd get to really experience that driving satisfaction. What size are the tires on your CX-5? GT came with 225/55/R19. Do you have leather seats? Are they 8-way adjustable? 8-way adjustable seats in leather were only on the GT in 2014. yrwei52 might be correct that you don't have a GT.

I have a 2014, so it may be different for the 2016's, but the GT leather seats in 2014 were 8-way adjustable and only 6-way in the Touring. I wonder if the wiring connectors would be the same?

No, she has a 2014 model she bought in 2019. It has the Type B instrument cluster which does not have any option for setting a maintenance reminder.

I have the same vehicle - 2014 GT. I however have the Type A instrument cluster. I just looked in my owners manual which is very good at saying when something applies to the Type A cluster or the Type B cluster. There are a number of pages devoted to the maintenance reminder function/settings...

I have a brand new pair that I can't use. Supposed to fit my 2014 but they really are for newer CX-5s. They didn't come with instructions and they might be "frozen" as well (at least I could not compress them by hand). If someone wants them you can have them for whatever it costs to send them to...
