Car & Driver: Our Mazda CX-5 Turbo Deserves a Better Infotainment System

I’m always surprised when I see this. Sure it could be faster, but it’s mostly intuitive. Unlike the Chrysler 300 I rented a couple years ago.

    Safe Windshield Washer Fluid

I’ve been using rain-x orange and purple for years without issues. Might have to switch after reading this though.

    CX-5 Seat Upgrade

14k on my 19 and they’re not getting any better. The seats in my wife’s 16 are significantly softer than my 19, especially the bolsters.

    CX-5 Seat Upgrade

lol - If only it were that easy. Just a suggestion to prevent a potentially expensive headache.

    2019 CX-5 20,000 Mile Review

Didn’t realize the Escape is now the fastest 0-60 at 5.7 seconds. HP is the same but the Cx-5 has more torque. Guess it’s the 8 speed transmission.

    CX-5 Seat Upgrade

I would spend some more time in a 2nd gen seat before you take this too seriously. The seat base is firmer, narrower and shorter than the gen 1.

2017~2025 CX-5 Possible rodent or mice under the hood

Check out my earlier post. Pepper mint doesn’t bother them. At least not the ones near me.

    New CX5 Owner - Questions

You’re missing the point. If Mazda has a seat that causes someone with a relatively average build issues, they messed up. It’s not just me complaining. There are a number of posts on here with new owners that are disappointed. There are posts on other forums out there as well. It’s possible to...

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

I’ve said his before but most owners wouldn’t notice because their not as in tune with their vehicle as others. Those here that have said theirs isn’t affected haven’t put it on the clock to actually provide a real data point.

    New CX5 Owner - Questions

Short, narrow and overly firm base = poor design. We can disagree on that though. If I had some abnormal body type, I would agree with you. It also has been mentioned in car reviews(moto-man or something, idk a guy who has had David Coleman on a few videos).

    New CX5 Owner - Questions

I’m only 5’8” and have a longer torso, so my legs are not long. It’s a poor design. A car seat should not cause pain for slimmer to average built people. The Gen 1 seats were not like this. Again, base bolsters are for lateral thigh support, not sitting on top of or squeezing your hips. I...

A presumed safety item that isn't safe - daytime running lights

This has happened to me once or twice. I never went too far because noticed the display was too bright, which led me to notice the dash icon wasn’t on Another reason I think it’s stupid that the DRLs are the head lights are nearly full strength. Would love to be able to switch the DRLs to be...

    New CX5 Owner - Questions

Yup, read through the directions when I got it- minor improvement. Something about the base always has me feeling like I’m sliding down and being squeezed, literally bunching up my pants. The comment about the base digging into the back of someone’s knee before it was adjusted strikes me as...

Installed Fortin Remote Start on 2016 CX-5 DIY

The touring doesn’t come with an alarm? I installed the Evo one in my wife’s 16 GT last week. Followed the instructions in the video of the guy with the eternal blue mica second gen. I’m now wondering if the GT has an alarm, and if mine will still work now that I installed the Evo one.

Pretty sure Unobtanium tried contacting him last year but no luck. Would love to hear what Coleman has this about this.

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

There was a cold weather performance issue on earlier 2.0 skyactivs. I think they were going into a partial limp mode because of a faulty sensor or programming. Please do share what you can if you find something. This isn’t a minor issue that Mazda should be hiding.

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

Sure. My latest post on this wasn’t directed at you. Just an observation that if it is for safety and traction, it’s illogical for Mazda to program it like this because roads can be iced over when it’s in the 30s, yet power isn’t reduced.

2017~2025 CX-5 Possible rodent or mice under the hood

Yup - my garage is full of snap traps. I refresh the peanut butter every couple months. I store my trans am in the for the winter months through mud season, so it can go a few months without the cover being removed. The traps around the car let me know if there is anything I need to worry about.

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

I’m thinking the safety/prevent traction loss theory is bogus. 32*F and snow/rain today and it had all the power.

2017~2025 CX-5 Possible rodent or mice under the hood

I put peppermint oil on the cabin air filter when I replaced the one full of mouse crap. Checked it 2 days later and a hole was chewed through it.
