Nicest/best way to tune fuel on the DISI motors?

Don't know too much about how to tune these motors, but I agree it runs rich. Wait a week or so and look at the inside of your exhaust finishers....black as coal. I think because of the DIsI/High compression ratio/Turbo combo they throw more gas in the mix to keep the charge cool to avoid ping...

I'm not one to comment on personal taste, so I'll just say it's definitely not for me,

7000 miles and I'm already car shopping.

More and more cars are taking exclusively premium in order the get good EPA m.p.g. numbers out of them. The automakers are using smaller displacement engines with higher compression ratios or turbos or in our case both to achieve higher volumetric efficiency and power. Perhaps the day will come...

    Turbo Model Number

Don't know the model # but I am nearly certain it is a Hitachi. And a pretty big one (as 4 cylinder gas motors go), offering 15.6 psi of max boost from the factory.

Turbo whine when cold - normal?

Under the conditions you have explained it is expected for the turbo to be whiny when cold. It is a good idea to like you stated to try not to enter the area of the rev range where the turbo would be needed to provide significant boost when cold (particularly is oil has not circulated fully...

    What's Missing; Future Features

Does your friend's system work well? I was GLAD to get RID of that system when I bought this car...My last car had it and it sucked. Maybe Mazdas works better!

    Insurance

Insurance is a black art. My license is clear, my credit is good, I have no criminal record and as a general rule live more cleanly and carefully than ever and I STILL get bent over every time the insurance bill comes. Still the CX-7 is $300 less expensive than the 300C if traded for. That...

Car Shopping and the CX-7 is ahead

nice concise write-up. It's funny the similarities in the decision making process that lead us down similar paths. The CX-7 really is a very unique package, and backed by Mazda's image of quality, how can you go wrong?

    What's Missing; Future Features

Now I'm really repetative but tilt-telescope column (or adjustable pedals/or both), and MEMORY SEATS! Add auto liftgate to the tech package to sweeten the deal (too expensive now for the offering), and for the love of crimony a 6 speed manual.

Dang! My two cents / feelings CX-7...

Ok, I don't want to belabor any points, but this thread spurred on a conversation between me and my wife. We have BOTH hit our heads getting into the car. We share it about 50-50 so a memory would be really awesome. Also, she has to sit closer to the wheel than I like in order to reach the...

    CX-7 Repairs

Door makes noise, mirrors tight. I think the hinge guide/support is making the sliding noise when it crosses the plastic bushing in the door. I'ts just the design of the hinge that makes the noise, not an alignment problem or malidy.

    oops....Fuel question

Premium fuel is a waste of money for machines that do not require it for their best/most efficient operation. This is one of those vehicles. All turbocharged engines are octane sensitive. This one having such a high static compression ratio is ESPECIALLY sensitive to lower octane gas. Though...

Lost the amount of boost / power ????

Me too! Now I'm sure we are all having a mass hallucination and I'm not any crazier than any of you. So, I guess we're in good company! Seriously, is there any way to ensure the second gear fixed mode can be turned off? I read the manual and followed the instructions, but I don't notice a real...

    Door Dings and Scratches

Is the paint on the CX-7 really soft? I washed mine the other day (first time) and noticed A LOT of rather deep scratches in the paint, especially on the roof. It either is the result of being scraped by a tree branch or BAD DETAILING on the part of the dealer "prep" person. I am a little...

    Gas Price Prophesy

Yeah, Prices here in west Michigan went up as well, but I STILL say it has nothing to do with the election results. It's not that I can't admit being wrong, although I've never had to, I just don't think the two are linked. :)
