What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Wow, congrats - you've got a decent alignment shop if they only confirmed the alignment before troubleshooting and diagnosing a bad tire. Most tire shops where most people get their alignments would realign the car multiple times, blame the employee, then blame the car, then blame the...

    Future of the Mazda5

The e39 is lighter, but not by anywhere near that amount of the weight you mentioned (you're way off on the e34 weight). The e34 and e39 540 are only 20 lbs different, and the e39 M5 was heavier than the e34. See below: e39 525i 1565(3450) 184hp 18.8 lbs/hp 528i 1585(3495) 193hp 18.1 lbs/hp...

    Future of the Mazda5

^ I don't understand the purpose of putting an s52 into an e34 or e39. Even though I see lots of people doing it, I can't figure it out. The s50/52 is expensive for what it is, and it's not particularly powerful either by today's standards, especially in a heavy car like an e39 (don't get me...

    Future of the Mazda5

^ Haha, my last car was an e34 Touring with M60B40 + 6MT swap, among other mods. Album from when I sold it last year: http://imgur.com/a/ex82r OK, back on topic. I think the 5 survives in the US because it is a niche vehicle, and it is the only vehicle in said niche. I don't need or want...

Mazda5 No Longer Recommended by Consumer Reports!

You can't avoid every nutjob out there driving recklessly, but attentive and defensive driving can go a long way. No doubt I would rather have a vehicle that performs better rather than worse in that side impact test. But on the other hand, I'm willing to bet that a LARGE percentage of people...

Mazda5 No Longer Recommended by Consumer Reports!

Where is the "like" button for brandini's comment? +1 to that. fanbanlo, OEMs don't produce vehicles "hoping" that IIHS or NHTSA won't test them, they aren't trying to pull wool over anyone's eyes. The 5 was never marketed like a Volvo as the safest vehicle on the planet. It's an old...

Where are the safety rating for 2nd gen Mazda5?

Is there a button to do a quick comparison to similar cars? Or do I have to look them up individually? I'm curious what "class" the mz5 is being compared to - I would expect a $40k, 4600lb Sienna to be safer than a $17k, 3400lb mz5 for example.

Mazda5 No Longer Recommended by Consumer Reports!

Yeah, kinda spammy, you did already post the same info elsewhere, but also have a thicker skin, I am pretty sure that was a joke, dude. Why do you get to say F Mazda and he can't say F Canada? How mad did you get at the South Park movie? (as I posted in the other thread and will spam here...

Where are the safety rating for 2nd gen Mazda5?

In response to fanbanlo and the SOL (small overlap) "poor" rating: Basically every car that wasn't specifically designed with SOL in mind, does poorly on SOL. So basically every car that hasn't been redesigned significantly (like, platform-level redesign, not face-lift redesign) in the last...

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

I have noticed the same thing. I get a lot more variation in MPG on this car than any of the other previous vehicles that I have historical data for.

    2013 Mazda5 turbocharger installation

Slowly, very slowly. I'm getting a bit impatient, wanting to move forward. When DT was slow with the NA tune - whatever, it was kind of just for fun anyway. Now that I've actually got the finished product assembled and waiting on tuning, the slow turnaround is starting to get to me.

    JBR rear sway bar review

Why not just get ms3 rear links? The stock ones are prone to bending, especially with stiffer rear bars, and the JBR is one of the stiffest, IIRC. Don't say price, because you replaced one aftermarket bar with another, plus extra goodies, you weren't doing a budget ms3 rear bar setup. Edit to...

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

I still don't understand why you guys (that are making this comparison) think it is OK and realistic to compare the mileage to the mz3 and complain that you don't get 30mpg in mixed driving. It's a van, even if it's a microvan. Compare it to its actual competitors (Sienna, Odessey, etc.) and...

    2013 Mazda5 turbocharger installation

I was creating an imgur album this morning, and realized I didn't include a completed shot of the engine bay. Apologies for the shoddy battery tie-down - it was a piece of scrap aluminum angle that I happened to have laying around AND it already had a 1/4-20 threaded hole in the right place...
