    F17 Plus review incoming

Just a heads up that my review of this dashcam is in the works and coming soon. I received the dashcam a while ago but I've been pretty busy with a family cruise-cation followed by a work trip, and I'm just now getting back into the swing of things. Anyway, the dashcam has now been wired up and...

🎥 If you had the final say, what should an interior dashcam actually record?

I personally would love if the dashcam could somehow capture a "bird's eye" view of the cabin. Like a separate interior camera that could be mounted higher on the windshield, or even somehow mounted to the headliner, providing a clearer view of the cabin and passengers. Right now, with the F17...

Question about strange issue that almost left me locked out

That's good to hear! I did remember to try this out on my 2022 yesterday, which doesn't have a remote start. It works the same as @N7turbo described. I can only lock the doors from the outside with the engine running if the driver's window is rolled down and I press the lock button on the door...

    Busted headlamp

Crazy that it busted the lens in such a clean way, without damaging the projector or the shroud behind it.. nothing else was damaged? At least the bumper/hood/chrome wasn't damaged on top of that.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I recognize that intersection. Not because I've ever driven it, but because I've seen it in a few dashcam clips on youtube :ROFLMAO:. Seems that a lot of people like to change lanes without warning in the middle of the turn.

    Salt is EVIL

I just came back from a business trip to Memphis, TN and Marion, AK last week. They got some snow followed by some freezing rain that iced up the roads a bit and really threw the locals for a loop. I think they closed the schools because the buses couldn't run, and FedEx/UPS drivers couldn't...

    Lack of fluid change intervals

Agreed. The reality is that the transmission and differentials are designed to operate normally well past the warranty period. How long exactly is anyone's guess - but driving habits and environmental factors play a huge part. A car that has an easy life (well-maintained, no winters, easy...

2017 CX‑9 GT — Keep it or sell? Cylinder Head Gamble?

I had a 2018 with 140k kms (87k mi), it never had the cylinder head coolant leak. I think this is an issue that can happen regardless of mileage because if the casting/manufacturing defect. I happened to find a decent deal on a 2022 from a dealership that gave me a better trade-in value than I...

    This might be the End

I agree, mileage and overall condition, including rust, will determine whether putting more money into the car will be worth it. It may be $2k to fix the blown gasket, but what about worn suspension, tires, rubber seals, ATF fluid, coolant, brake fluid, etc.

Right headlight turns off and glitches when I turn right

Yeah looks like the passenger side low beam headlight shuts off briefly. Does this only happen while you're making a turn? Does speed of the turn make a difference? Does the light turn off if you turn the wheel while parked? The first thing I'd check is the wiring, to make sure everything is...

    Oil level question

Where is the oil level at on the dipstick? be sure to take the reading at least 5 mins after engine shut off. If it's just slightly above the max mark, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it's like an inch or more, I'd probably do a drain and fill just to be safe.

    Changing front struts, any recommendations?

About 130k kms I think? Only the front passenger strut was leaking. Lowering springs were installed at 90k kms. I think they would have gone a lot longer if I hadn't hit so many potholes last year.

    Changing front struts, any recommendations?

I would go OEM, but in my case, the prices were ridiculous. I went with FCS struts when I had to replace my leaking fronts. FCS doesn't have the best reputation, but they were just fine on my lowered 2018. I also replaced the passenger side front LCA on my 2018 at the same time. I had the same...

Is the Turbo CX-5 noticeably faster?

Yep that was many many years ago. It shouldn't apply to a brand new 2025, since the TSB was applicable to 2019-2020 CX-5 Turbos only. 2021s got a revised PCM that should include the correction. @involutions, post #663 from the thread above has more detailed info if you want to bring the car to...

Is the Turbo CX-5 noticeably faster?

It may be important to note that the 1st gen didn't have as much sound deadening and NVH mitigation as the 2nd gen, so the 1st gen feels more "raw" and less refined than the newer models, which can make it feel faster than it is. Additionally, the new car may still be "learning" how you drive...

    CX-9 Dashcam installs

I hardwired a Redtiger dashcam in my 2022 CX-9 earlier this year. I also hardwired a Redtiger dashcam in my wife's 2006 Civic. I used the video below for guidance as I had never hardwired a dashcam before, and it helped a ton. I also found this video, which goes into a little more detail and...

What 5W30 oil brand do you use in your CX-9?

I ran PUP on my 2018 for the first like 30k kms, then switched to Kirkland and I've been running it to 137k kms, when I traded it in. I have enough oil to do one more OCI on Kirkland for my 2022, but I think I may just keep that oil for an emergency and switch back to PUP if I can catch a sale...

    2022 CX-5 Turbo Exhaust options?

When I was younger I wanted to save money and still get good sound, so the custom route was very popular in my crowd. Now that I'm older, custom still makes sense to save money, but it also allows you to customize the sound and appearance more to your liking with different resonators and muffler...

    Condensation in headlight

This could very well be the case, but I also think the dealership is trying to scare you into paying for a costly replacement at their dealership rates. If it were me, I would remove the headlight, and go over all possible seams where a leak could occur with a weather resistant silicone...
