year range problems PTU failure versus transmission spline and water pump

i am still running without the PTU for now but might have found a way to repair it. If it works i will leave some info for everyone. You could take out the rear diff but my concern was to take out the rear axles since the ABS is using the teethed wheels on the axles to calculate the speed of...

year range problems PTU failure versus transmission spline and water pump

if you don't have snow or too much of it, awd is certainly useless, i feel my truck is perfect during summer time in 2wd. It does suck during winter with all the snow we have in Canada. You have it right, the axle is going through the PTU so if you take it out, you just put back the right axle...

Anyone seen that solution for PTU and trasmission spline problem?

I just discovered that, seems like a shop in Ukraine found a way to repair it and it seems pretty cheap to do. At least much better than buying a new transmission... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lMr9afF608 http://transfer-case.com.ua/shop/avtomobil/mazda/cx-9 sorry, my ukranian suck! :)

year range problems PTU failure versus transmission spline and water pump

I know pretty much every year can have PTU trouble but i am wondering if it is only the 2007 that also have the problem of transmission splines shearing when the PTU goes south. Also, for the water pump trouble, was that only on the 3,7L? didn't recall anyone with the 3.5 (in 2007) having this...

2007~2015 CX-9 Rear diff problem solved

yeah it does, i beleive you have to disconnect some exhaust pieces in order to remove the driveshaft but i am not sure, you will see once you get there.

2007~2015 CX-9 Rear diff problem solved

you are taking about transfer case, just want to make sure you problem really is the rear diff and not the transfer case that is in the middle of the vehicule. you only remove the front portion from what i can remember. there is no special seal, i used "the right stuff" silicone gasket maker...

CX9 Transfer case clunking - assume trans splines are toast?

if the splines were completly sheared the rear wheels would not turn. if it is just catching on and off, you will know soon as they will shear completly if you drive it. If it is only in the transfer case, then you might be good and be able to install a new one if the splines of the...

    Transfer Case - 4WD Issues

if it is not going to see snow often, leave it like that. I personnaly took mine out so at least i removed around 100lbs from the car with the driveshaft.

    Sorry guys, another awd question.

where or how did they get a new diff? It says the part can't be purchased at Mazda, non servicable part. If you ever have a part number, please share it.

    Sorry guys, another awd question.

same problem here, now running in fwd. My transfer case looked good when i took it out, it is stiff because the oil is all jammed but otherwise, it still turns. I beleive the splines actually rust and get weak and then they break since the PTO is not harder to turn. Haven't found a replacement...

Front wheels spins easily and 4wd flashing!

unlikely, when this happens the awd light is always on. either busted transfer case or chewed up splines in the front diff like i have. There is a huge thread on this a little lower.

    Transfer Case - 4WD Issues

ok because a constant 4wd light on means a problem with the rear diff, if it's flashing, it's probably the transfer case or the differential teeth,

    Transfer Case - 4WD Issues

it should be the same i beleive. when you pull it out, make sure it is not the teeth in the transmission that are toast. Although i beleive only 2007 had the differential teeth go out like that. Since you replaced the fluid, it is surprising it still went out. Do you have a flashing 4wd light...

    Transfer Case - 4WD Issues

just found this, anyone ever tried that? As far as i can tell, there was no way of replacing the diff Inside the transmission with the sheared splines, can this be the answer? https://maktrans.net/tf81diff-tf81-z-53-mazda-cx7-cx9-hyundai-veracruz

4WD light flashes when I lose traction (sometimes)

well if you can spin the wheels and the 4wd flashed that is because the rear wheel are not turning, i would check the transfer case. Best time to test it is in the snow but a slippery pavement might do the job too.

    Start up hesitation

seems like a relay is not doing it's job or it might be the starter. First time i read about this.
