do you have any details on how they replaced the spline hub? It is part of the differential which is a non servicable part from mazda. You can't even buy the part by itself.

no clue, i was looking for the same info on the transmission and no luck, this is not an engine that gets swapped a lot so trial and error is unfortunatly the only way to go but since we never hear about this...

You mean if you put back the PTU? it could but i suppose something is going to give in real quick, I still sugget you don't put it back in, will cost less in reassembly time and the car will be 100lbs lighter without the PTU and the driveshat.

honestly my fear is that the splines of the passenger side driveshaft do the same thing in the transmission, we can see i think on your pic that the inner splines for the passenger side are starting to weakens, at least, they looked like they did on mine.

i don't know, if the engine doesn't start, the ecu won't have the time to go through the system to see the lean condition, unless there is a fuel pressure sensor, i doubt the ecu has a way to tell.

that's what makes me think fuel, doubt it's fuel level though, i would guess fuel pressure. I had a different car that was doing this and ended up being a broken nipple on the fuel pump. Enough to start it but not enough to keep it running.

might be a dumb question but sounds like you are out fuel? Never checked how it is made but try to see if you can hook up a fuel pressure gauge on the feed line.

no don't have to do anything, it is not sealed between the TC and the transmission, there si a seal for the axle on the right side which should be good. You also need to take out the driveshaft which may require a little work on the exhaust for one of the bolt.

nope there is no way, you really have to take out the trasnfer case but you can put the car back together without the transfer case if you find out the transmission splines to be bad, take much less time and saves a lot of weight on the car.

the little piece you see he is hooking to the splines of the axle is usually inside the diff and this is where it hooks up

Wait, i am not sure but i beleive Vlad said those pictures were from the right axle and he was running in 2wd so it has nothing ot do with the transfer case. From what i read, maybe he can give us some more details butfrom what i understand his transfer was screwed and he run the car like that...

Quick question, some say that you can just forget about it and leave it 2wd but if the splines between the transmission and the TC are chewed up, wouldn't that make it 1wd since it won't power up the passenger side wheel either? Unless i am not seeing it the right way?
