CX-5 Liftgate Issue - Easy Solution

Just out of curiosity, have you ever tried taking a small piece of plastic and taping it over the fob's tailgate switch? I'm just asking since I've had the lifter on my last two CX-5's with the big fob and never had the tailgate go up on its own, but I always take the key out of my pocket as...

Fishing turn bulb out of headlight unit?

Maybe a chunk of Blue Tack on the end of a long screwdriver? Just a thought.

Tried to order a CX-5 today

I would probably wait it out. I read that many cars are showing up with no power lift gate or Bose stereo due to the chip shortage,. They give you a monetary credit for the missing items but the stock Mazda stereo is pretty crappy. I also feel that would make for a less desirable car down the...

Key fob low battery on dash but new batteries?

I'll bet you left the key in the car or close enough to activate the power save feature. The same thing happened to my extra fob and this solved the issue. I swapped the battery to no avail then remembered seeing this somewhere in the manual. Turning off the power saving function After you...

From 17” Wheels To 19” Wheels

That was my question, not actual MPG but how accurately the car would calculate MPG and remaining miles in the tank. I don't think the rolling resistance would factor into the cars calculation since it's looking at fuel consumed over the actual distance travelled to come up with it's (somewhat...

    2022 CX-5 Improvements

That's just the over the speed limit warning though. My '20 announces that you're approaching either a speed cam or red light cam and to slow down. It's not perfect since it always tells you to slow down even if you're not speeding, but I can live with it since Chicago has the speed cams set up...

From 17” Wheels To 19” Wheels

I'm not planning on doing any swapping but am curious about how much of a difference there would be between sizing as far as speedo accuracy goes. I know the higher sidewalls on the 17's will help minimize the change in the tire's actual circumference but it seems even a small change would throw...

    2022 CX-5 Improvements

My 17 and 20 have both given cam audible warnings. You have to turn it on in the settings and have the GPS SD card installed. But my wife's 2021 CX-30 with the newer infotainment system doesn't have an option to turn it on in any of the settings I can find.

    2022 CX-5 Improvements

Do the '22's with GPS still give the speed / red light camera warnings? My wife's '21 CX-30 doesn't do it.

    Identify each remote

Get some of the silicon fob covers that they sell on Amazon in different colors. We have 2 Mazdas so 4 identical fobs. Without the covers it would be a huge mess. They do a good job of protecting the fobs from drops too.

New love for Auto Folding Mirrors

Like you I also like the visual indication that the doors locked. And with many narrow side streets here in Chicago they can be a real lifesaver. But they can be problematic in colder climates and I turn them off from December through March just to play it safe.

Are you concerned about signal relaying theft?

So with all this discussion about CX-5's being stolen, does anyone actually steal them? I couldn't find any statistics about how often Mazda's are stolen. I mean I'm sure they are but it seems like if I'm going to risk stealing cars I'm either going for a more high volume model like the Honda's...

Are you concerned about signal relaying theft?

Dude you're not getting it. The fob being near the door allows it to be opened by pressing the button on the car's entry handle, not on the fob itself. So by tricking the car into thinking the fob is directly in front of the door that will allow entry into the car, and also allow the keyless...

Are you concerned about signal relaying theft?

Exactly. It's like folks from other countries who think all of the U.S. is a dangerous place but it's really about where you're located.

Are you concerned about signal relaying theft?

There's no point in doing so really. I'm a city guy and carjackings are up in pretty much every city in the US at this point so moving would be a wash. There are more dangerous places than Chicago for sure. It's just another part of the breakdown of civility in the US but this ain't the forum...

Are you concerned about signal relaying theft?

We don't worry about things like that here in Chicago. If they want the car they'll just take it at gunpoint from you at a gas station. ;)

Diagnostics complete = SD card is invalid but map update is available

That doesn't mean he got the card from Mazda. Who would when you could get them for 40 bucks online? That's how I got mine but it would never update. Works though. I will never understand why Mazda even thinks someone will pay more for a so-so GPS card then an entire freaking phone with AA now...

    Odd Android Auto Behaviors

I went through all that to no avail. What it would do is not pause when I received a call but would try and resume play at the end of the call which would then toggle it to pause. It works fine when on straight BT, just not on AA. The AIMP has no issues so I assume it has to do with the AA...

    Odd Android Auto Behaviors

Just a quick update. I tried AIMP and it works fine so it must be a Poweramp thing. It's supposed to be AA compatible but maybe not so much.

    Odd Android Auto Behaviors

Nope, just the standard latest update from Google. What I haven't tried, since it just occurred to me, is running the stock music app and seeing if that makes a difference. I'll also try a different app besides Poweramp. But the left speaker thing has to be a Mazda issue. That is some poor...
