    2020 CX-5 Radar issues

Have you tried taking this up with Mazda Corporate?

Trade in my 2021 CX-5 or keep it?

Maybe run your car by the CarMax website and see what they come back with. I just traded in my '20 and the dealer just about matched their value as a trade in value. They told me they would actually turn the car to CarMax instead of selling it themselves. FWIW it was a Soul Red and the hood...

2016 CX-5 Sport key fob battery died in about a month

I think not. If the car is parked in close proximity to the fob after X time it will stop pinging the fob so as not to drain the battery. Then you have to press one of the buttons, lock or unlock, I don't remember which offhand, 5 times in rapid succession to reactivate it or it won't unlock...

    Fob Locked Inside (2020 CX-5)

I just got a '24 moving from a '20. I kept a spare key on the rear plate of the '20 as others have done since I read about folks managing to lock their fob in the car. I had a key cut for the new one and was sticking it on the plate today and got curious about just what it would take to lock...

    CX-30 Rear wiper replacement

I just replaced the rear wiper on the wife's CX-30 and ran into the stupid design that doesn't allow the wiper arm to lift off the glass far enough to change the wiper due to the plastic plug that just won't come out. Not a biggie, I just took the whole thing off with a 10mm socket wrench and...

Lease coming to an end and planning to purhcase it (2019 CX-5)

So I did end up buying out my lease this week. By going through Mazda Financial directly it bypassed the dealer's paperwork fee of 375 clams. I'll have to go down to the DMV (shudder) and transfer the plates and title myself but an hour of my time is worth the savings.

    Homelink safety question

I think not or the mirror would have to be reprogrammed every time you disconnected the battery or it died for some reason.

    Homelink safety question

You're right, but I'd like to have the option.

    Homelink safety question

Garage break ins are quite common here in Chicago, here's a quote from one of the local websites, blockclubchicago.org. It's from '21 but it gives you an idea of just how common it is. As of Oct. 23, the 14th Police District, which covers most of Logan Square, had seen about 100 garage...

    Homelink safety question

As someone who does read them: it's not that common. Of course, break ins still happen. But smashing the car window to get to the homelink button cannot be all that common. That's a big risk an intruder would be taking. If you're going to smash a window, wouldn't you just...smash one on the...

    Homelink safety question

I see that all the time too. I've got mine tied into my home automation system so if no motion is detected in the garage for 5 minutes the garage door closes itself unless I consciously put it into a bypass mode. I did that after the ex left it open one day and it got cleaned out of a lot of stuff.

    Homelink safety question

AFAIK all garage door openers use rolling codes to make it tougher to grab codes. You don't actually change the frequency, just the codes that are sent out. But that being said I agree a garage door isn't very secure. If you leave the handle attached to the rope pull to disconnect the door...

    Homelink safety question

I thought about that but if so it would need to be reprogrammed every time you disconnected the battery or it went dead for some reason. And I've read some cars shut it off when the car's not running. As far as the car always being in the garage mine is 95% of the time, but there are occasions...

    Homelink safety question

So I've noticed that my Homelink buttons are always active, even with the car off. A quick search shows that's not uncommon across many brands of cars. It's been discussed in a number of forums that can be a fairly serious security breach, especially if you have an attached garage since your...

Lease coming to an end and planning to purhcase it (2019 CX-5)

My 2020 GT lease is ending next month and my buy out is around 20.7K, but the actual OTD cost is around 23.3K. Here in Chicago /Il/C(r)ook County when you lease you only pay a percentage of the tax, as you're only "buying" a percentage of the car. So when you buy it out you pay that difference...

Gas Tank Heat Shield Drilled Through

I would get some J-B Weld putty epoxy. Fixed in minutes and should never come off.

Door beeps when I open it after I turn off the engine

Try putting the car in neutral then turning it off with the button. If it acts exactly the same way you might indeed have a bad shifter Park switch. It's a known issue with early CX-5's, they make an upgraded switch for '13 and '14's. Take a look here for more info.

    Buying our leased CX-30

I'm in the same camp. The lease on my 2020 CX-5 GT PP in SR is up in August. I just turned 22K on a long road trip, and I can buy it out for a little under 20K. It's a no brainer. The only way I'll end up with a new one is if I can turn it for say 27k - which is possible, maybe - and use the 7k...

Maz Nav SD Map Version downlevel for 2021-2023 CX-5 TD2K66EZ1A

I kinda think the only reason to bother with the card anymore is if you have the HUD. I just did a 2500 mile road trip and used Maps with an AAWireless adapter all the way. I miss the directions popping up on the HUD, and AA can be a bit snarky sometimes, but that's offset by the speed trap...

Looking for a hitch to attach a bike rack

I was going to order a Curt but once I looked into what Uhaul charged to mount one I just drove over and bought it there and had them mount it. I could have done it but for what it cost to have them mount it it was worth not dicking around for a DIY afternoon. I was in and out in less than an...
