    LankyKiwi's Rally-flavored SP20

Huh. Such a drop difference in front and rear never occurred to me. The image died a while ago, but on the old spring buyer's guide, there were all sorts of options to pick from to obtain the desired front/rear drop: All the P5-specified kits, with the exception of the Tien S-Tech, drop the...

    MZDA WLF Proteg5 "build"

Your new(er) black car came with a JDM FSDE, let alone without VTCS? I only ever knew about the FSZE. Gotta show us what's under the hood sometime, sounds neat.

Supposedly, a major advantage of valve cover breathers are blow-by prevention. Too much pressure in that engine spells doom for your gaskets and piston rings (I think). Going off of what 323 said, you recirculate that pressure through your air intake if it has a line for it.

    College Student First Car Build

Yeah, we have "Solid lifters", which are supposed to be much more durable than HLAs. Although, Twiggy cams are stupid rare. You're probably going to have to regrind cams to match their profile. Even then, you'll need cam gears for a proper timing, a piggyback to get their true power, and...

    College Student First Car Build

Also, definitely know what you mean with those cupholders lol! First delivery I took in the P5, I took a U-turn too hard for the cupholders to handle. Nothing like garbage soda fluids ruining the carpet!

    College Student First Car Build

Man that's so cool. Some day, I'll work up the gumption and skill to take off the head of my engine for some reinforcement or whatever. Granted, I probably won't walk away with it with one arm while carrying my tool box! Did taking apart a junkyard Protege give you any perspective or good ideas...

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

No kidding? Man, if you ever visit this place, you'd be surprised at how much has changed. Population exploded, every other road's been rebuilt and expanded, and the highway's getting four lanes. Cool in some ways, but sucks for commute times and the car scene. All these new guys more or less...

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

Hey that's pretty cool :^) Only other person that appreciates this car is someone I don't know, and most likely won't meet lol. That's fate for you. There's actually a P5 guy in this forum that lives in the same city as me, perhaps about 10 miles south or so, but he never responded to my PM...

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

Alright, one plan is on the table lol: A neighbor down the street has a very flat and level surface in front of his house, so if I can't roll start my car while coasting in reverse down the hill, I'll park there to fix up my car! It's mostly a joke at this point, but man I want to fix my car...

    Aftermarket intake/exhaust and fuel trims

Fancy that, I just went through an ordeal like this :^) When I fixed my fuel trim issue, which turned out to be a vac leak, my STFT and LTFT remained beneath the 8-10% threshold. Thus, a CAI/SRAI shouldn't affect your trims if installed properly. Granted, I never read these when I had the stock...

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

Damn. Well, I gotta find a way to push the car up the hill and in the driveway now lol...it's pretty convincing that it's the starter. Thanks for the info. Time to fix the car for the Nth time!

Where's it at? I'm not sure if it's in the fusebox or if it's down on/by the starter itself.

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

I jacked up the car lightly so that both wheels were still touching the ground. I reached underneath with a ratchet, banged on the starter a little, and it wouldn't start. Come to think of it, last time I started the car, it cranked just a little bit, made that "wind up toy" sound I've...

I just checked fuse 14...no dice. It's still fine. I want to try knocking on the starter, but I can't get to it safely. As it sits, there's not enough ground clearance for me to get under. It's also parked on a hill, which is turbo-sketchy when you try to jack up your car. And even then...

Hey, seat time's seat time, and it still benefits you greatly without causing brake fade or uncomfortable engine temps!

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

Well, a winter storm blew through Wednesday, and my car hasn't been able to start since. Normally, I'd be upset, but I guess this is business as usual (rolleyes) All the solenoids are good and click, but I've got no crank. Battery's good and holding voltage above 12V. It's gotta be a bad fuse...

    Grif's White P5

Man those rack delete slips are nice! Have they cut down on wind noise and turbulence by much? After that, you should delete the door moldings for an extra-sleek look. I would do it myself, but I noticed that the previous owner did not get the car painted underneath those. It would look...

    Sanity Check for P0171

A fueling issue from P0171 is a little less cut-and-dry. If your STFT is overall lean, and your STFT doesn't drop with the throttle being held at 1.5kRPM and 2kRPM (while LTFT remains high), then it could be one of several fueling components. You're then looking at your FPR, injectors, and fuel...
