What have you done to your P5 today?

Just got the Star Specs mounted on the RPF1s... will post pics after I wash the nasty thing (for the same reason as Scott).

What have you done to your P5 today?

How can you possibly end on that note?

What have you done to your P5 today?

At some point between safely driving home after dark last night and getting up this morning to go to work, both of my low-beam headlights burned out (braindead I know these Proteges are known for going through headlights like Taco Bell through a colon, but is both at the same time not unusual...

What have you done to your P5 today?

Cleaned out the EGR (damn bolts are hard to get to with a socket!) and reset the ECM. After a quick test drive, it seems to have fixed the momentary pinging that I would hear in the transition from off-throttle to on. I'm massively relieved that the pinging was nothing serious. (thumb)

    Need help diagnosing a sound

Wow, that's quite the gouge in that first picture. Is there any material actually stuck on / melted to the journal?

What have you done to your P5 today?

I have some 17x7.5 RPF1s on the way courtesy of low_psi, with some brand new 215/40 Dunlop Z1 Star Specs currently sitting in my living room. It's gonna behave like a totally different car for autocross on the 11th, and I can't wait. (drive)

THE OFFICIAL "Traveling Mazda Flag" thread! :D

What are the dimensions of the flag? And is it nylon? I skimmed through the thread but didn't see this anywhere, so I apologize if it's been answered elsewhere.

I have Started my System install

If you're putting in 2 pairs of Kappa 60.9cs, then this is pretty similar to the install I've been working on for a while. I'm really interested to see how this turns out, and let me know if you have any questions (not that my install is done).

    engine noise

Both of the above are correct, and I know this because I had both issues and had the exact same problem you're describing. Here's how I fixed mine: 1. If they aren't already, run the RCA cables to the amp down one side of the car and the power cables for the amp down the other side. My amp...

Where to buy rebuilt rear calipers? Did a search already.

The pin that can't be removed without first removing the caliper seized to my rear passenger caliper, so this appears to be a fairly common problem. I ended up getting a replacement caliper from Advance Auto, though it was without the bracket ("unloaded"?). I actually had to cut through the...

HELP!! LARGE peaces of metal coming out cylinder

Any time you have metal dancing around in a combustion chamber and bending up spark plug electrodes, I'd say continuing to drive the car is probably a bad idea. There's most likely some damage to the cylinder walls, possibly to the valves and the piston itself. At the very least, you should...

    how bad is a

I've actually had a screw come out of my tire at highway speeds (65ish mph) and it can be pretty catastrophic of you're not in the far right lane. I was "lucky" in that it was a rear tire and in low traffic. I just went to the local sketchy-looking auto shop and had it plugged for $5, but my...

    which would be better?

I'm not sure about parts interchangeability between the 2.0 and the 1.8, but stroke is determined by the crankshaft, not the block itself. I'm confused about what you're actually shooting for here; do you want the final displacement to be 1.8L or 2.0L? That is, do you want an 85mm stroke...

What have you done to your P5 today?

All good suggestions, some more so than others. And believe me, I tried a medium effing hammer and got nowhere; that lower pin was turning in the bracket instead of in the caliper, it's locked in there pretty solid. Just finished cutting the pin (was surprisingly easy, thanks again for the...

What have you done to your P5 today?

That's one of the solutions that I considered and then discarded before even trying it because I assumed that pin was super-hardened steel. I guess I will give it a shot before I go out and buy a $$$ loaded caliper.

What have you done to your P5 today?

Figures - the same day I join the forum, I notice that my rear passenger caliper has seized to the slide pin. The caliper no longer slid, so it wore the inner pad (already kinda low) down to the steel backing and carved up the rotor pretty well. So now it's in pieces in the garage until I can...
