I'm not following. Normally when one goes through the ripping process the audio files are converted to MP3s and then stored onto the hard drive. This process is ripping. It sounds like you are copying your CD's to the HD and then converting them to MP3 from there?

While I can't say for certain, because I never tried it, but I'm fairly sure that no degreaser is going to remove RTV. Elbow grease will but no degreaser will do this job. RTV is formulated to be resistant to this.
