Sorry. Let me rephrase that. :) In 2003, Mazda's compact car was called the Mazda Protege. In 2004, the Mazda 3 was introduced. Therefore there is no 2003 Mazda 3 key. The key fob must be for a 2004+ car.

The wire that powers the cig lighter is really thin and weak. That may have fried when you left the compressor on. I fried mine with a charge cord for my phone! There's a how-to around here somewhere to replace that weak wire but I never bothered because it looked like kind of a nightmare...

2003 was a Protege, not 3. The key/fob's gotta be for a 2004+ car.

Mazdas are FAMOUS for clunky swaybars. I'd double check those swaybar brackets and endlinks for play. Damn things corner too well for their own good.

Not a Mazda, but we've had Weathertech mats in our 4runner since 2012. No issues ever, perfect fit, they don't slide around, and they really do catch spilled sodas and stuff.
