    Changing brake fluid

Unless you put thread sealing tape on the bleeder screw threads you'll never get a bubble free stream of fluid. It's not a PROBLEM, but what happens is it'll pull air past the threads. If you're just bleeding fluid from the system it's not a big deal, you're not putting any appreciable amount of...

    Changing brake fluid

    Here's a write up I did a while back. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123813508-Dispelling-myths-and-BS-How-you-REALLY-are-supposed-to-bleed-brakes Thread that's Mazda2-specific...

Remap for Mazda 2 in the UK.

Turn around was a problem a while ago. They have since changed their email service and I think hired more people too. I did experience slow turn around with my Mazda3... With the Mazda2 I've gotten files as soon as 25min later, and the latest was about 40hrs later after sending logs.

Remap for Mazda 2 in the UK.

http://www.dynotronicstuning.com They do remote tuning. Basically as long as you have a laptop, you buy their cable and software(MazdaEdit) through them, you do datalogs while driving the car, send to them, they send you a new file that you flash to the car, then log again, and repeat until its...

    My New STF project...

Also curious about pressures. I've settled on 33/38 as my go-to pressures for dry events. With no sway bars it comes around very controlled and smoothly. I am going to up the rear spring rate(700/700 instead of 700/550) in an attempt to get more tail happy action, but in the same controlled...

    flatlander937's Mazda2 build - SCCA STF / NASA NXF

Operation motor mount went fine. The old bushings weren't LOOSE, but I wanted to at least rule out them causing stupid amounts of wheel hop at the last event. I noticed the engine/trans feeling like they were shifting around a bit, most noticeable when accelerating and then letting off then...

    Mazda 2 STF Autocross Build

FYI me and Jeff are running at Metlife on May 1st with www.motorsportsne.com if you want to check out what is probably the closest to Jeff's setup as anyone. 700/450 daily driven, 700/550 or 700/700 at the event.(we'll be testing). If you want to gauge what a srs-bzns setup is like for daily use.

    flatlander937's Mazda2 build - SCCA STF / NASA NXF

Apparently my wife signed up for Amazon Prime to buy a bunch of stuff for our new place... so of course I'll sneak in some goodies under her account for my car. Nothing big, just some maintenance items because racecar. I think my motor mount bushings are starting to get a bit of slop under...

Anyways... after the last auto-x event I put my shock settings back how I normally have(1.5 turns from full stiff up front/#2 setting in rear and the next day to work the ride was stupidly bouncy. On the 700/450 setup it's not a massive bouncing... But sharp oscillations you feel in your neck...

    Autocross Budget Beater

Is it the compressor clicking or the purge solenoid valve? Watch the compressor while running, you can physically see if the clutch is engaging or not. The center portion stays stationary, it's off, if it spins with the pulley, it's on. If it truly is the compressor then sounds like it's...

    Crankshaft bolt

Unless you have the special tools to hold the cams and crank in place DO NOT remove the crank bolt. The crank timing gear is not keyed to the crank, so it will spin on the crank when bolt is loosened. You can bend valves if you don't do it the proper way. Do a search on the subject... It's been...

    STF Suggestions

Bilstein would be the way to go. Better yet get them through Mazdaspeed which IIRC are valved better for the spring rates. How serious are you about being competitive? Locally? National events? I'm on a set of fabricated coilover housings with Koni road race inserts up front and Ford Focus...

    P0455 woes

No problem. I forgot to add, that unless it is a MASSIVELY LARGE leak... like fuel filler neck is cut in half, NORMALLY if the purge valve is not working, it will also set a P0441 for purge flow performance. It's most likely NOT setting that code because the fuel tank pressure is probably...

    P0455 woes

P0455 is a large EVAP leak. There are two valves that help seal the system for diagnosis. The EVAP vent valve is near the back of the car... it is normally OPEN and allows the fuel tank to vent to prevent pressure or vacuum build up with expansion from heat/etc. It vents through the charcoal...

Yeah me neither! I'm a bit disappointed we couldn't meet up BEFORE you sold your car for some good back-to-back testing, but nevertheless you'll probably be better able to evaluate what is different/needs changed(high spee compression, low speed rebound, etc. I think the rear shocks could use...

Front tires after about 22 runs or so: Playing guess that noise... I found the rear motor mount bolts loosened up a tad causing a horrendous clunk when accelerating. Probably not coincidental that it was the day after the downshift-happy autocross course... For any oil nerds... this...

The day after our novice school, we had points event #1. It rained all day and forgot the GoPro so have no pics... but it was very good. I ended up PAXing 3rd behind a very fast Boxster driver in AS and a very fast Fiesta ST driver in HS. I do know I have a lot more practice as a driver, I...

This year I'm basically planning on doing all of the Tidewater Sports Car Club auto-x events, plus a few others here and there. I was HOPING to do one national event, but between my wife's school schedule and all the other stuff going on in life that probably won't happen. (Me in passenger...

    flatlander937's Mazda2 build - SCCA STF / NASA NXF

Now the BIGGEST change I've made overall has been the suspension. I have been running 700lb front springs, and 550lb rears for autocross, and daily driving on 450lb rears. It's easy enough to swap out for events, they just fall out :p I also went from the Koni Sport rear shocks to KYB AGX...
